162 game average numbers, with TheMick listed first, then Manny

Avg .298 .315
R 113 111
RBI 102 133
HR 36 41

2B 23 39
3B 5 1

OPS .977 1.006
K 115 128

Really a pretty persuasive case for Manny here.

Take the vaunted Mickster out of The Stadium with that short ass RF porch and he's likely down to well under 500 HRs, thus making him pretty much an earlier version of Eddie Murray.

(edit...I skimmed too fast and overlooked Fairwarning's already posted same numbers...)

One would have to ask if RUNNING SPEED should be included in this discussion as BEST HITTER between the two(not best OFFENSIVE PLAYER)......................as think of the leg hits MICK had and MANNY didn't because of speed(or not hustling).

I can't imagine MICK being a better HITTER than Manny, very few would have that claim over Manny, as he was just incredibly awesome.

I saw both guys play in person. I am a lifelong Red Sox fan and loved watching Manny play. I fuggin hate the Yankees with every fiber of my existence since childhood. Micky Mantle is one of the most amazing atheletes that has ever lived and he did it crippled and hungover for longer than he would have probably cared to admit. He had close to world class speed and blasted balls out of Yankee Stadium when the fences were much further back. I saw him hit a ball so far out of Fenway that people just gasped and kind of just looked at each other as much to say "what the hell was that"? He was a switch hitter and probably could have set all the stolen base records at the time when he was young if the Yankees would have let him. Manny was a great hitter but was probably one of the worst fielders in history and ran like a bag of arthritis. He was also one of the biggest fucktards in baseball history. Try to remember something about baseball...statistics can be very misleading. I won't even start to get into the steroid situation with Manny, I mean shit, he got caught and ran away.

Micky Mantle won the triple crown dude there have been only 5 major league triple crown winners for batting.

1909 Ty Cobb, 1925 Rodger Hornsby, 1934 Lou Gehrig, 1942 Ted Williams, 1956 Micky Mantle

If I were talking to someone about let’s say the 10 greatest hitters of all time and all these guys were not on his list, I would change the subject to drugs because at lest I would know the dude has some first hand knowledge.

Williams & Hornsby also won the Triple Crown twice. Williams almost won 3X in 49 Kell & Williams both hit .343 Ke;ll was a fraction higher. Also Joe Medwick won thriple crown in 37.

Most baseball historians if not all consider Williams & Ruth the best offensive baseball players of all time #1 & #1A! From #3 to #20 everyone can have a legitimate opinion. Certainly Mays, Foxx, Aaron & Hornsby are top 10. Mantle in the top 20 probably by consensus,
Manny especially because of steroids no way!

I agree with the different era shit and they shouldnt be compared everything is different but just looking at pitchers its not even close. I'm sure almost any D1 pitcher now would have been a stud back then. Those guys didn't have nearly the advantages of guys today. Just like in another 30 years well say the same.

Numbers wise Manny is nearly better, with better comp. I cant believe some of you people actually think pitchers today are watered down why because the middle journeymen reliever only throws 95 with a good slider?

Am I wrong to think that the Mick doesnt sniff college ball in todays world. Assuming same guy does same shit as then?? now him using the same shit as todays people then yes.

Everyones on the juice in the live ball era not just the hitters remember its FUCKING EVEN
