I'm worried about Fishhead.

This thread has been open for more than three hours and he still hasn't shown up to defend Manny against any and all criticism, no matter how slight.

If he hasn't posted by dawn I'm calling the police.

Because he's not on Boston anymore.

Great hitter, one of the best ever. Horrible at defense and makes bad mistakes. Top 10 player for sure but Pujols can slug with anyone and has the glove that Manny can only dream about when he jogs to run down balls.

I couldn't disagree more. Manny is out of the best pure hitters I've ever seen, but when all is said and done Bonds, A-Rod and Pujols could go down as the three greatest players of all time. He's not close to A-Rod in my opinion. I hate the Yankees with an absolute passion, but this guy is BY FAR the best player in baseball and has been the best player since Bonds. Bonds imo is probably the best hitter of all time. A-Rod will take that title from him before he retires. Pujols will also give them a run.

Don't forget that Manny sucked complete ass last year. Neither of his playoff HR's meant anything also.

A-Rod is every bit the power hitter as Manny, but the difference is A-Rod plays gold glove caliber defense, and steals you over 20 bases a season.

Manny is death defensivly and has cement legs on the bases.

You cannot even put A-Rod in this conversation.

Reggie Jackson was Mr. October, A-Rod is Mr. April. A-Rod gets hits when they are not needed. He has not shown up for a playoff game in his career. He has been to many of them, but he seems to like to watch them from the bench after a strikeout or groundout.

Untimely hitting.

Man for man, the Yankees had the better team many times in the playoffs, but alot of times A-Rod choked when it was important.

I know that you are a Yankee and A-Rod cheerleader, but reality is reality.

Having said that, I do hope that Rodriguez breaks Bonds HR record.

It's amazing what bias can create.

Look again at A-rod's stats the last 3 post-seasons, and let the
numbers speak for themselves shall we?

Batting Ave: 7/44 = .159
Strikeouts: 15/44 = .341
Extra Base Hits: 2/44
Home Runs: 1/44

So, A-rod in 44 at bats has 5 singles, 1 double and 1 home-run.

And, he has more than twice as many strike-outs as hits.

Way too small of a sample size. If I have bases loaded, 2 outs, down by 1 in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 in the World Series and I can have any hitter I want up at the plate I take A-Rod and don't even think about another name. People get WAY too caught up in "clutch" stats when it comes to rating players. A-Rod has by far the most baseball talent I have ever seen. Bonds is the next best. A-Rod's playoff stats are simply coincidence. It does not make him a choker than can't preform in the playoffs.

There isn't a single player I wouldn't give up for Rodriquez in a trade.

I love how all of a sudden all Dodger fans are in love with Manny and think he is an all time great. If you would have asked their opinion of him at the start of the season most would say he's good, but not up there with the greats. Now that he's on their team he's all of a sudden a god. And why are LA fans cheering for both the Angels AND Dodgers? That makes no sense to me. If I were a fan of one I'd be hoping the other team never won a game. That's like Yankee fans cheering for the Mets.

Um. Coincidence with what?

So, your argument is that A-rod is going to have horrendous streaks, but
it just so happens by coincidence that he has them when the pressure
is the highest, and when it counts the most?

BWHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAH. That is hilarious.

Arod has been terrible with the Yanks in postseason, & isn't the hitter that Manny is, Manny hits for higher average and drives in more runs, But to counterpoint the greatest hitter since WWII in his only postseason 1946 was 5 for 25 and 2 years later in the American league playoff game had a pedestrian performance while Lou Boudreau went 5 for 5 with 2 HRS and
beat Williams team 8-3. That game alone help Boudreau win the MVP over Williams. Sometimes small samples don't prove a point.

Mannys 25 HR in post season and more to come makes him the most compelling hitter since playoffs were inagurated in the 60's.

Mannys career post season #s are way below his regular season #s

Regular season Batting average .314
Post season Batting average .274

Reg season OB% .411
Post season OB% .374

Reg Season slugging % .591
Post season slugging % .529

He might be having a good series against the Cubs but throughout Mannys playoff history he has been an underachiever in October compared to regular season dominance.
