I think its wrong to assume the team has quit just because they aren't getting results. I don't think the situation with the players is a huge issue. The caretaker boss Joe Kinnear appears to have given the team some stability and there is no real reason for a player to quit on the team at this point. It appears likely whoever buys Newcastle will re-install Kevin Keegan so the beat will go on.

Man City is still a work in progress, they need several more top quality players to become a legit top 6 team. The only significant addition to the team that was quite average last year is Robinho. That is nowhere near enough to make a huge difference.

Personally think Newcastle will be a tough out tonight and the odds are completely overestimating Man City and underestimating Newcastle. There is no way Man City wins this match over 40% of the time.

Is that why City won 4 out of 5 recent ones and last two Away as well?
True its not going to be easy today for either side here, but the table and recent encounters don't lie and City is the better side here today.

I don't care about a few results from recent history. If a coin lands on heads 5 times in a row does that mean heads should be favored on the next flip? Teams and situations change dramatically every day. I can bet those results were not with Man City being favored. Just a few good results for them. Nothing more. They have no business being almost a half ball favorite here. None. The talent difference between the two sides is minimal and Newcastle are traditionally a difficult side to beat at home. Despite finishing in the bottom half of the table last year they only lost 6 times in 19 matches at home.

After the international break Newcastle has had time to regroup and I expect this team to pick up some solid results in the coming weeks and pull away from the relegation zone.

well i think this city team would win 40% of the time facing a squad without owen, viduka, and smith no matter if internationals were just played or what the history is. City's away form is far from impressive but talent is certainly on their side with Newcastle having little to offer up front and a defense that has allowed 2+ goals in 5 straight

very few reasons to back Newcastle here except it's a monday night game and you hope they give max effort
