Why not if the government is too stupid to change the system. The food stamp program has been in existence for decades and when Republicans were in office they did nothing to change the system either. The system is broke and needs to be fixed. This is a good thing that Maine is doing and hopefully other states will follow.

ZERO - how many Latin tenants - ONE!!! - now, please put a little Crisco on those real world numbers and shove them up ur ass
It's not just inexpensive housing - if u have a voucher u can rent from any owner willing to rent to u - if u have a 250k house and a tenant has a 1800 voucher and u want to rent to her she can rent ur house - I don't know where u got ur numbers from - but by ur own number more than 1 out 3 black person gets food stamps - u don't think that's a problem? not just for the county but for the black community? u are aware once people get in the system they are hooked for life and never move into the middle class - these crumbs make the poor perpetually poor

And anyone with a $250K property who rents to HUD deserves precisely what they get. I know that's shitty to say, but it's the truth. If they're not paying for it, they won't take care of it.

The houses average value is probably around $140K but there are some duplexes, a triplex and one quad - those are the headaches - it becomes a mini project - to be honest HUD tenants are animals but they don't fuck the places up too bad because they can lose their vouchers - but we have had stabbings, arrests, drug dealing, a tenant found floating in a canal

My point was less about the figures and more about how generalizing that 99% of food stamp recipients are minorities is as mentally vacant as saying 99% of racists are white. The problem isn't about the poor and isn't about race. The problem is that we've transitioned from a nation of producers into a nation of takers and that can not and will not be able to sustain itself.
When the takers outnumber the producers, there is going to be a big problem. And we are toeing that line right now.
