Purdue bounced back nicely after their blowout loss to Notre Dame last week. The home crowd was not a factor because the crowd in West Lafayette is nothing like some of the other Big Ten crowds. Crowd simulation was lowered to a level 4 impact.
RB Evan Royster had a pretty big game for Penn State because Purdue's defensive line got pushed around pretty bad in this one but fumbles continued to be a problem for Penn State as they lost a few balls deep in their own end resulting in some Purdue quick strikes.
QB Daryll Clark finally threw his second interception of the season and his counterpart QB Curtis Painter was good but not very efficient against the Penn State defense. Purdue was able to get a lot of pressure up front and even though Clark is mobile, he was continuously being chased around and brought down for losses.
This game ultimately came down to the turnover battle and Purdue won it by forcing 2 fumbles and intercepting 1 pass. RB Kory Sheets broke a big run late in the game to seal the deal on the spread cover and WR Greg Orton made some big plays down the stretch.
