The gap between these teams was only 12 points in last year's game in Baton Rouge. LSU lost a lot of talent from last year's title game as evidenced by the ass kicking they received last week. South Carolina returns their best team yet under Spurrier. This has upset written all over it.

Precisely my point. Especially in light of LSU's defensive stats. Regardless of the troubles SoCar's offense has had this year to date, this team is worlds better offensively, as well as defensively, than last year's team. I'm interested in seeing how this line moves.

Just read from ESPN that starting OG Batchelor for the Cocks is out for this game. That will hurt an already poor USCe run game. This line is down to 2.5 and I just doubled my play.

I don't see this as a big loss. South Carolina's run game was not going to win them this game anyways.

It's a loss from pass pro and line chemistry as well. I just dont see this coming out well for South Carolina.

I don't know why not. It should be very obvious that LSU is well below their championship caliber from a year ago. South Carolina is an above average SEC team, outgaining conference foes 342-264 ypg. That is pretty good if you ask me. Also, South Carolina was only a 7-point home dog to Georgia a few weeks ago. South Carolina pushed that spread, but they outplayed UGA in that game. Obviously, Georgia is ahead of LSU this year, so i don't see how LSU -3 is some great value play.

Fellows...Spurrier was really upbeat in his press conference this week..And he usually isn't. I think he's pretty happy about the way his team is playing. SC will never look good winning games. They beat the bad teams by about the same scores as they beat the good teams..But the key is they keep on winning..I've been on them the last 2 weeks..And I'm going to be on them again this week. Many people think that because a team gets swatted by another team the week before, their going to come out the next week mad and determined to kick ass..But in reality it's usually just the opposite of that..When a team goes from having BCS title game aspirations to getting beat the way they did, it usually is a letdown the next week..Remember Michigan last season? They lose to Appy St. and then everybody thought they would bounce back the next week and beat Oregon..Didn't happen..They just got beat worse. Now LSU has to go on the road again with a young QB facing the best defense in the SEC...Good luck

Because USCe is not an above average SEC team. They have played a miserable NCSt team, UAB, Wofford, and UGA who always plays terribly against USCe. I also think you overestimate UGA. To say they are "obviously" better than LSU is based on what? Who has UGA beaten? No one. They got blown up in a game just like LSU.

You obviously do not understand the concept that in the SEC (cant speak for other conferences) some teams play other teams like nails regardless of record.

I don't think you have a fair comparison there IMO. Michigan wasnt coming off a NC and they had injuries LSU doesnt. I also disagree that the Cocks have the best defense - it's good, but I think they can be thrown on. I believe LSU will throw to open up the run and I also believe they will utilize Holliday at RB much more than they have in the past. That will be brutal on that Cock Defense IMO.

Sure, but if UGA and LSU had met in the SEC Championship last year, i think LSU is a 3-point favorite maximum. Some could argue that UGA was even ahead of LSU at the end of last year. Clearly, UGA returned the stronger team from last year, so I don't think i'm exactly going out on a limb by saying that UGA is ahead of LSU this season. LSU is 1-2 ATS in conference so far this season, while SC is 2-1-1, more evidence of who is overrated and who is underrated.

Just to let everyone know, Bachelor was not a full-time starter. He has probably started more games than not this year, but has usually been one of the weaker links on a pretty good pass blocking but very subpar run blocking OL. From reading their message boards, a lot of fans have called his toughness into question numerous times this year, and are actually excited he is suspended. I don't see where his absence will make that much of a difference.

Also, heard today that Ricky Jean Francois did not make the trip to Columbia, FWIW.

Heard RJF has really been suspended and not hurt. Can't say for sure but that's what some friends in BR have said.

You really feel like LSU can throw the ball against the SCar secondary? They held Matthew Stafford to 15/25 and only 145yds, easily his worst performance of the year.

And Jevan Snead was held to 9/17 passing, 89yds and an interception in the 2nd half by the SCar secondary.

With that said, I do believe it will in LSU's best interest to use Holliday a lot. His speed seemed to give the SCar defense trouble last year and I think Scott is more of a bruiser which would be a better match-up for the Gamecock D.

It's crazy to me how small line changes can affect one's thinking. Personally, at -3.5, I thought the game was a trap. Now at -2.5, I think this is a huge play on LSU. I keep flip-flopping. Am I the only one in this boat?

Let me ask you this...who has LSU beaten? A very bad Auburn team? It took them the last minute of the game to do that. They beat a bad Mississippi State team even though they let Mississippi State run up and down the field on them all night long. Appalachian State and North Texas? The LSU defense has problems. If you give up over 400 yards to Auburn's inept defense and let Mississippi State's horrible offense move the ball on you all day you have problems.
