Razor, why does it seem to always take half a season for Big B to get his team playing SEC football.
Pattern developing in Fayetteville and it ain't good.
well this might sound like excuses but I believe in them in this case.
Last year we lacked a good OC. He was not able to put our adequate and above average sec QB in good positions. We also lacked play makers at WR. We had an awesome Defense last year but it was young and a first year DC. 3 of our 5 DB's were fresh or soph. Lb'ers were either a second year Juco (didn't play his first) or a sophomore who is a step slow but is now making up with it between the ears.
This is year we upgraded majorly at the OC position but we were I jury struck. I think after the first game we were down 3 starters, one being our top RB. We were relying on him more than we thought, I think. You saw Alex Collins start to take off as our freshman went down (face mask by auburn player that broke his neck) then we were back to just Collins. We've seen a backup RB in Walker take off behind Collins now. Now on this coaching staff, our Oline got OWNED the first few serious games. Our staff went light on the players in fall camp and no two adays. Can't say if that's fornsure why they lacked blocking or not but it's possible.
Excuses? Maybe but I'm still giving Bielema a little leeway. He had such depleted depth when he came here we are still building it. We are another good solid recruiting class or even two from not having major drop off.
