Began working out recently. Used up 4 guess passes to my local park district fitness center. Now I have to join to continue using. Membership fee is $70 a month. I only will use about 6 times a month.

Question is: Since this is owned by the park district, can an issue be made that a $70 monthly membership fee discriminate's against lower income individuals or families.

Probably not but I'm curious about other opinions.

Why not just sign up at a cheaper club, one that better suits your needs?

If it is gonna keep you in shape and you like the machines/weight room there its well worth $70 a month. But on the other side of that coin $70 is crazy if you have a YMCA local (can get a years membership for like $100) or plan on joining for several months b/c you can get a quality home gym for about $500 (or six months dues at that club)..... Christ, Ill sell you my BOWFLEX that cost me $1100 that has been used twice (no joke twice) for $500...... as far as that discrimation against lower income etc. etc. I have NOOOO idea but would guess the answer is NOT A CHANCE.

It's so damn convient and nice. Full service locker room with all your shower amenities. Razors, shaving cream, mouth wash, towels, hair spray, etc. Not that crowded. Always have a bench or curl bar or dumbbells available, no waiting.

All I've been working out is my chest, bi's & tri's. If I went more than 1.5 times a week I could justify $70. I will probably cough up the doe just because it's less than 5 minutes from the house. The longer the commute the harder it's to get motivated to work out.

they probably keep the price high to keep jagoffs like you out because cheap bastards like you are notorious for stealing all the shaving cream and razors.

You're crazy if you pay $70/month to workout. Sheesh, just buy a pair of powerblocks or a cage and put it in ur garage. If they are charging 70/month, they would be put in jail. The most i have ever paid was 30/month, and i felt like i was getting reamed.

sounds to me like you want everything for nothing.you liked it when it was free now that its time to pay you are questioning it and looking for a legal loophole no less.i guess its ok when you collect from the bookie but when you lose you must question that too,at least that is the way you are talking

You might be right. I definitely need to become more responsible. I also need to learn to complain a lot less. Gambling losses may also cause one to lose their mind.

There is not a case for discrimination here.

Wealth, or lack thereof, does not fall into a class of persons that receives a higher scrutiny regarding discrimination made by a governmental entity.
