What is the over and under on how many times the Repugs will bring up Reagan's name in tonight's debate. It went way over in the last debate but that was at Ronnie's library. They will all of course have to say kind things about Falwell.

Reagan's economic policies put the screws to working class Americans. Ronnie was resposible for one of the worst recessions since the 30's. By the end of the 80's poverty was up and wages were down due to his military madness which created huge federal debt and deficits. Reagan was a bold faced liar and denied selling arms to IRAN which freed American hostages. He later retracted the statement but claimed he didn't know anything about it. Ronnie was a hitman for big business in the 50's, strictly anti-union. He fired the air traffic controllers thus breaking their union. Ronnie hated environmentalists.

Ronnie was almost paranoid about state directed redistribution of wealth and wanted to abolish Social Security (sound familiar), he didn't care about senior citzens. His biggest fib was that he won the Cold War by scaring the Soviet Union w/ Star Wars. Gorbachev changed Soviet domestic policies to the point where the old state was doomed. How about Manuel Noriega, S&L Scandal, Ed "you don't have many suspects that are innocent of crimes" Meese, the invasion of Grenada, Bill Casey, massacres in El Salvador, AIDS denial, Iran/Contra, Bobby Bork, a lot of napsZZZZZ, food stamp reductions and $640 toliet seats at the Pentagon.

It's ironic that old Ronnie died of Alzheimer's, his Religious Right is against research of stem cells. Yes it is really going to be a difficult task for the Repugs to find another Ronnie!

Life must be tough for you. I don't think I've ever read a post where you had anything good to say. I suppose we could take any president in the last 50 years and make a laundry list of all their faults and screwups. We all know that pretty much everyone in politics is unethical and crooked in some way. Who cares if they bring up Reagan?

Reagan's economic policies put the screws to working class Americans.
Ronnie was resposible for one of the worst recessions since the 30's

That's a lie!

Jimmy Carters economic and tax increasing policies were the real culprits, with high unemployment and mortgage interest rates approaching 20%, Carter left the country in a shambles and handed Reagan a real mess. Reagans "voodoo" economic policies saw the start of the greatest period of economic gain the world has ever seen. The increased revenues from the Reagan tax cuts saw the increase in tax revenue that had the national debt paid off during the Clinton years.

Ronnie was almost paranoid about state directed redistribution of wealth and wanted to abolish Social Security

Another damned lie!

Reagan was an FDR Democrat who believed in Social Security. Social Security would hyave gone broke right about now if Reagan hadn't restructured it and raised the age to retire. Even the Dems had to go along with him when he made the neeeded changes to the system.

Reagan was an avid anti-communist and didn't believe in the redistruibution of wealth as the Democrats would have had it - take everything from the working stiff and give it to illegal aliens and welfare bums. Reagan did believe strongly in a sovcial "safety net" - a temporary form of welfare to help people transition through a disaster.

It'sw funny that the Dems shot down Reagans catastrophic event insurance to help aging people get over any catastrophes and still keep their homes.

Dan, I don't know whose dink you were jerking in France, but don't come in here and spread your lies about Reagan.

Jimmy Carter nearly caused our downfall and Reagan saved us.

Your lies about Reagan tell me that you're a commie at heart - why esle loath and lie about this great man.

Whoa there!

I've always said that Clinton wasn't a bad President.

Clinton may have been a perjurer and a sex maniac, but he was a good President who saw the great economy that Reagan and Bush left him and continued it. He passed the "defense of marriage" act and oversaw welfare reform.

I didn't care for Clintons morals and ethics, but the guy left the country in damned good shape.

You keep pointing to the "right" for the gambling ban - but it's your guy Harry Reid who saw the ban through the Senate. Please remember that.

Who sponsored and tabled it? Who is working to repeal it?

Agreed - many Republicans supported the ban, but it would not have passed in the Senate without Harry Reid pushing for it.

As one who typically votes Republican I don't really think it's the particular parties. I would vote for a Democrat if I truly thought it was best for this country. Just please, no Hillary. Just the sound of her voice makes me want to stick an ice pick in my ear. She is a prime example of someone who will tell you whatever you want to hear.

I just can't believe that in this country of 300 million we can't find one individual who is honest and can lead this country. It baffles me that people complain about politicians and yet vote the same ones in over and over again.

Tex,

I do just fine. The point is that the Repugs will never win in 2008 by pretending to be someone that they are not. Obviously I am not a big Reagan fan but none of the Repug candidates are Reagan either. They were trying to compare themselves to Ronnie. Talk about crooked, wait until Rudy G's dirty laundry really starts to come out! We know him here in New York. GL!

B,

You and Ronnie must must hate Commies more than Jimmy Carter. The point is that the Repugs will never win in 08' by pretending to be Ronnie. I still stand by my comments on the Reagan years. He was no "savior".

Lt. Dan, I agree. It's like the Democrats comparing themselves to JFK. They say it because it's what they think the voters want to hear. Like I said earlier, how come in this country of 300 million there is no one who is honest and ethical? We get the same retreads over and over running for office.

Your comments are lies. I'd like to see some proof to support your petty accusations.

We both know that Reagan was a saviour who saw a renewal of patriotism and the securing of the United States position in the world order. He took the nation from the brink of economic disater to the greatest economic boom in the history of the world.

And it was your icon, James Earle Carter who caused the problems that the United States faced.

You can't refute these facts

Yes, I hate commies - it's a false religion with false promses that give false hopes to people at the bottom while taking the hard won gains from the people in the middle - all to support the lifestyles of a few at the top.

You hate Reagan because he killed your religion.

TF,

Diogenes spent his entire life wandering around ancient Greece looking for one honest man. Does such a person exist? Retread is an understatement:

Bush 1
Clinton
Clinton
Bush 2
Bush 2
Clinton = American Dynasty

Abraham Lincoln was talking about the office seekers that were lined up in the WH seeking patronage jobs after he was elected and said that the"sow doesn't have enough tits". Everybody wants something, everbody has a special interest. Just one of the downsides of a Democracy. Were you in the Crotch?

B,

I worked for the State Dept. in DC under "Uncle Ron" so don't tell me about lies. If the people knew what was really going on they would sh*t. Don't let Commies get to you. If it wasn't for Commies, Ronnie wouldn't have been the great man that you say he was. I used to drink w/ the Marines who were security at the WH. It seems that Nancy was intrigued by their sidearms and often asked if she could play w/ their pistols. She obviously watched too many of her husband's old cowboy flicks.
