I am not very up to date on The World cup this year, but I would like to make some plays to keep me interested this year. I am thinking about laying the chalk on all the heavy favs. I know this is kinda crazy (blind betting), but hoping it is easy cash.

Looking at
Germany
Sweden
Mexico
Italy
Brazil

Any thoughts? Any of these overrated?

Brazil is by far the leader, but an injury or red card to Ronaldo levels the field, IMO. He isn't their best player anymore, with Ronaldino taking that honor now, but the way he stepped up last world cup, plus his size makes him a force. If he stays healthy and out of card trouble, I think Brazil runs away with the tourney. Germany I like a lot too b/c they are at home and play with more pride than maybe any other Euro team. The rest I think are all longshots.

As a play I like the Czechs to win their group and the tourney!

Brazil will win but you will lay big chalk. Sweden represents your best value bet here with Mexico a close second. I would look to Serbia & Mont, Czech Rep and Portugal if you want one more bet at decent value.

I am aware there is little value in these heavy favs. All I want is dominant teams. I know there is risk in these, but I figure they should all win (and even if one loses, I should come up ahead). Just wishful thinking I guess... we'll see what happends.

Just a note...

8 of the last 9 World Cup champions have been from Europe.

Oddswise Brasil is very much overated. They are not that much better than the other soccer powers. Germany could be a huge disaster, Klinsmann's attacking fancy has the team extremely shaky keeping their own net clean. Sweden will face stiff competition from Paraguay and of course England. I really like Paraguay and I'm convinced England will qualify. I like Italy but their group is very difficult.

Its a much better idea to take a shot with "lesser" teams making it out of the groups. Books realize they're going to get more action on the big name teams and inflate those prices accordingly.

If you want to play a dominant team I'd go with Argentina to win their group. The other co-fav (according to the odds) Holland is overated. They are quite young and may slip up.

the best option for a good wager is:
Germany (odds to win their group)
Brazil (odds to win their group)
Those are the only fav so far to clinch their group. But a parlay in match:
Germany moneyline and game over
Sweden moneyline and game over
Poland moneyline
Those three are sure to win something huge.

European countries have a chance to win the WC, but need to bring the A game if they are to dethrone Brazil. Rapstar wrote something about Ronald being in card trouble. Never had I heard such a thing, Ronaldo is in better shape than ever, and now he has a huge supporting cast to back him(Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka, and Robinho)

I don't know a whole lot about soccer but I've seen a lot of good cappers both here and other forums say that Iran is underrated. I wouldn't be shocked to see them beat Mexico or at least give them a draw. That's the weakest game out of the ones you have listed, IMO.

That's true. Iran can give Mexico a run for its money. Especially since that group is weak. Portugal will prevail, second can be for either Iran or Mexico.
