how the hell can irvine be laying that many points the way they are playing? they have yet to play 2 good halves of hoops this season and saturday they play in bracket buster @ new mexico state (although in all fairness to irvine - that game is meaningless since the ONLY way irvine makes the ncaas this season is winning the big west tourney - and right now - they are no lock to even make it - so to me - this game means everything to them - and NMSU means nothing) they have lost 7 straight and given away most of them. this team has ZERO confidence. the students no longer come to games and make noise - and long beach's fans will make more noise at the bren. irvine has not tossed in the towel on the season but they aren't coming to play. this is 3 straight roadies for LB - but it should be noted the other 2 "roadies" were riverside and fullerton - both of them are short bus rides (UCR about 75 minutes and CSUF maybe 20 - at most) and this trip is a straight shot down the 405 and is no more than 20 miles - so in my mind - the fact this is 3 straight roadies is meaningless since all 3 games were local - and to me - this is like duke playing B2B "road" games @ UNC and NC State. add in the fact it is raining outside now and will throughout the nite - and i don't anticipate a lot of irvine fans coming out for this game - especially students - and the "normal" fans at irvine games make so little noise the place has been called "the library" in year's past.
to me - we have a motivated dog playing a disinterested fave - and that makes for a great combo. wouldn't shock me to see LB win this one SU but either way - i see this one decided by 1B digits - and if that is the case - i don't care who wins.
