If a bet is made over the phone, the clerk and the linesman should be able to spot an error like that. It is their fault and they should honor the bet. However, you will be in my black list immediately after that. A phone bet should never be void, only the ones made on line.IMO

quote:
If you went into a supermarket and a tin of beluga caviar had a sticker price of $3.65 instead of $36.50 and the checkout-lady rang it up , then you paid for it, then she realized the mistake and told you--is she at fault and you are entitled to the $33 discount. Come on....it was blatantly wrong, and he knew it!

actually it is the law where I live if it scans incorrectly it is free!!! so the answer to your question is YES.

This case troubles me a little, of course we will all tell money he shoudnt have bet the line...& HE SHOUDNT HAVE. However how could an experienced book make such an error...several Player vs player matchups with +'s on each side & NOONE in their orgamization noticed? As players how do we know it was not a ploy? after all many may have only bet one side or another...how convient would it be for them to cancel all the winners & keep the losers? The book must be accountable for something? should they not?

anyway my overall analysis of this is that Money, your play shoudnt stand...book in this case must be given the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest error...IMHO

Does anyone know anything about Wager-1? Where is the book, have they voiced their side anywhere, etc.

Every week there's a topic like this. As I said in another forum, it gets old in these cases because the bettor is surprised that a site stupid enough to supposedly say over the phone that the odds were correct is not going to honor the bet - it's like petting a shark and bitching when you lose a hand.

Just assume, in the future, all such obviously fuc-ked up lines are not going to be honored and just avoid them. Save yourself the hassle. If they told you that on the phone, ask them for a playback, if you bet it over the phone - if not, live and learn.

Jazz - Easy to say, and I agree these threads are getting old. Problem is they are like a fire alarm, you can't ignore them. Here is a guy who registered yesterday, and is laying a story like this one on us. He may well be legit, or it could be Sick gambler, who knows. Lets say we bumped the thread immediatley to the RR, or worse, deleted it. Would the Rx. being doing anyone any good? Unless someone has a better idea, we will have to take each "claim of the week" on a case by case basis, and let the thread run its laborious course into oblivion. (or is it bolivia)

That's not the law.

That's the policy of the particular store - not the law.
