"Lightning make NHL history by starting all-Black line in game against Panthers

'It was a pretty cool moment for all those guys,' says Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper

Daniel Walcott was already excited to be in his first NHL game. He got even more excited when he got to see how his debut would happen.

The Tampa Bay Lightning started three Black forwards in their regular-season finale against the Florida Panthers on Monday night, a rarity in NHL history — if not an absolute first. Walcott, Mathieu Joseph and Gemel Smith were out together for the opening face-off and didn't know they would be starting together until just minutes before game time.

<section id="inread-wrapper-id-254" style="font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"></section>"First of all, they're all in the NHL for a reason," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "They deserve to be here and have worked their tails off. To have them all together, they had a little chemistry. Moving forward in the league, you hope it isn't a story anymore and will be the norm. It was a pretty cool moment for all those guys."

Florida won the game, 4-0. The teams will meet in the first round of the NHL playoffs that start this weekend.

It didn't work out well. Tampa got their asses beat. I did see black on black violence, a fight between all black players.

I rarely post or suggest plays but did for Florida that night over at SBR but I don't think anyone payed attention lol

FL was only like -120 and should have been -300

What led you to the -300 number?

I hope you & some others hammered it hard.

Do you also moderate at SBR under the same username?

Because lighting had key starters out, currently hurting big time, hammered two nights before by the same team, and home-ice was at stake for Carolina.

Yes at sbr too but not same name exactly

thanks. A healthy TB team and they'd be favs to win it again. Nearly impossible to win in today's NHL with injuries to star players--they did it a yr ago with no Stamkos, speaks to this team. Lookin' like he and Kucherov maybe back, that's huge, fresh legs too. Need Hedman tho, i'd take a Hedman at 80% than no Hedman at all. He was a beast last yr, deserving of the Conn Smythe
