The team the Mets are chasing -- the Phillies -- are having closer concerns of their own. Only for Brad Lidge, his performance woes have nothing to do with a bad back, only bad pitches. Lidge blew his third save of the season on Saturday against the Yankees when he allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth, including a two-run blast by Alex Rodriguez. His ERA is a gaudy 7.71, but Phillies manager Charlie Manuel will continue to trot him out there in close games, telling reporters that Lidge's stuff is good but his location is off.
no one has really said this here....but madsen could close for most teams in baseball, high ks, and now that he cuts back on the walks, hes really better than anyone the phils have......and most teams have for that matter...

but thats todays baseball...his job is the 8th, and lidge is the 9th....so this is what phillie fans are not used tos eeing this year, .....only a matter of time be4 they let lidge save face go on the DL, despite there being nothing wrong with him

in 'romancing the stone' danny devito has a classic line, when he says, 'no sheep is safe tonite'...well that also goes for 'no bullpen is safe tonite'....save this thread...i got good $ this won't be lidge's last debacle....sometimes i think putting a 'T' out there in the ninth and adding an extra fielder is a safer bet!!

zeke made a good point about madsen...years ago he'd still be pitchin...i can't stand the pussification of these pitchers...ever heard of rollin with the hot hand...fuckin ego's in all walks of life will burn u every time...madsen shoulda finished this game up...let lidge cry in the corner f his feelings are hurt////aint it about THE TEAM!!! and WINNING?....and this from a dodger fan....i din't bet the game...but even a nobody like me could tell you madsen had a better chance at cleanin up in the 9th than lidge
