Let's say Trump was right all along and this coronavirus is just a flu on steroids

And let's say it only gives us a fever and makes us feel like shit for a day or two. This could all be very well and true.

What's wrong with the being safe and cautious. Shutting down sports, mass crowds, quarantine, etc. isn't such a bad idea. It sucks for our economy but we will strive and be back stronger than before.

Personally, I don't mind if I get it. But I don't want us to ignore this. I have parents, lots of people have parents or grandparents that are old. It is worth it for me to see sports stop, travel stop, and my stocks take a temporary dive to ensure all my elderly family stay alive.

Once we have a vaccine for this. Then I say resume everything. I'm not willing to suffer to compensate elderly citizens refusing vaccinations.

Feels like the consensus on this forum is that everyone is stupid for letting this overblown "pandemic" influence our daily lives.

never did steroids.

i just feel a lot of hate towards all the shutdowns. I don't know what good it will do but i'm willing to suffer temporarily so my daughter's grandparents don't get hit by this thing.

He is right, it's just the flu on steroids, I don't see that as just my opinion. What I'm mad about is the media playing the panic game. Closures don't bother me as much as the media wanting to get everyone into a panic, thinking we have a president that is doing nothing and that this is bigger than it is. I might vote for Trump because of this now instead of 3rd party.

Is this going to be our new norm? Do we shut down the country every flu season? Why not? 10 to 60 thousand Americans die every year, up to 600,000 die worldwide.

Our behavior and our reaction and especially our coverage is unprecedented

And no, we can't shut down the country every flu season. We'd do more harm to society than the illness we're fighting ever could

Swine flu
55 MILLION inflicted Americans
12,000 deaths in 8 months

No hyperbole, no politics, no panic

Hussein did a great job on that one. Sat on his ass for 6 months and thousands of Americans died. Fake news totally ignored it.

Now liberals, who have done nothing except foam at mouth over "Russia! Russia! Russia!" and "impeachment impeachment impeachment" for the last 3 years, have their panties in a wad because Trump is a week or two late on "test kits" for the Chinese Wuhan virus. As if BernieCare wouldn't have been a worse disaster than Italy.

And they wonder why Trump got elected...

My daughter just got over flu A. Nasty stuff. 104 fever and miserable. Never seen her that beat up. 25 kids had it in her school. Kids have a higher chance of being critical with the Flu than the Wuhan Virus

The test kit thing no one would be able to do because of regulations. Those great regulations that dems are always talking about. Now they want to be mad. And now progressives are mad about the 1 trillion put into the economy as if keynesian economic policy isn't a progressive policy.

Hope this isn't the new norm.

Also the BS about the test kits......who cares. I could be wrong but it seems that a person that is tested negative could contract the virus directly after the test. It seems like a snapshot, not a preventative measure.

They have to have panic for the closure things to work. This isn't China or North Korea to where they can force us in our homes and not to come out. America would say shove it govt. So the panic helps them with the social distancing. That being said, I think the panic is a "clickbait" thing to garnish eyes and another thing to put Trump down for. It is political for so many on TV and the dems see it as just another chance to lower Trump and push in their guy who can't carry on a conversation that isn't scripted for him.
