I have never seen this photo before and found it on the Pussycat a Go-Go photo gallery. It is a great photo because it shows so much of Strip north of the Sands. The picture is annotated at a rock venue on the Strip where Jim Morrison was arrested in 1968, the Pussycat A Go-Go. The Strip has at least three gas stations in the picture. The land wasn't as valuable back then so gas stations, independent restaurants and motels could exist. The Tam O' Shanter motel and Black Forrest restaurant were there when I made my first trip there in 1978. Right behind the red circle you can see the sign for the Santa Anita race book which was also in business when I was there. Gary Austin's would open up his book a few hundred feet away several years later. This was long before the corporations showed up and sanitized Las Vegas.
