LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Las Vegas man has officially set the new world record for the largest collection of casino chips.
Guinness has recognized Gregg Fisher's collection of 2,222 chips and tokens, each from a different casino, as the biggest in the world.
Fisher held the previous world record of 818 chips.
To achieve the new record, two independent witnesses qualified by Guinness had to authentic the collection, which then underwent a 12-week review process.
"These chips and tokens are historical artifacts that help tell a story of the evolution of casino gaming," Fisher said in a press release. "Tokens that were used in slot machines have all but disappeared. And as the evolution of digital gaming progresses, casino chips will get harder and harder to find. Collecting them has been a thoroughly enjoyable hobby."
