Laptop Computers--Moving the Cursor??

Is it just me or does it require some special skill to move the cursor around the screen on a laptop? Thinking of buying my first laptop soon and have been glancing around. But I am baffled at how difficult it is to move the mouse key(Cursor) around!! Seems MUCH more difficult than it should be.

What machine has the easiest one to maneuver?
