TT in Col, I don’t believe a victim’s past can be used to discredit them, unless it is relevant to the case. This particular girl is only 19. I don’t see how she could have developed a “sordid past” at this early stage of life. If you have any "relevant" facts about her character, I would love to see them.

Prosecutors love these types of high-profile type cases. Lots of publicity. And the victim is a young “white” female. There is no down side here for the prosecutor. If he decides to prosecute, he’ll be a household name; he’ll be seen “defending the virtues of a young woman;” he’ll likely get a book deal; if he has designs for a political office, this is the kind of publicity he needs. For those reasons, I believe this does go to trial.

>>>>Couldn't Kobe just pay off the girl to lie as a defense witness if it goes to trial?<<<

ADP1000,

this is"witness tampering" and would involve a guaranteed jail sentence for Kobe.

This is why you should always get girls that let you video tape it.

(Unless, of course, you are Rob Lowe and the girl turns out to be underage.

If the girl's story changes or she decides not to cooperate with prosecutors - i.e., she will not testify - then the state would have to drop the charges - you see this all the time with domestic violence - the wife says her husband beat the crap out of her to the police and then months later before a judge she says the ceiling fan fell on her head - however, Kobe cannot pay her to do this - it would be obstruction of justice and a crime in and of itself.

I would have to say no in this case. Seymore makes a good point. It is almost impossible, without any solid evidence, to tell what happened in the room.

I like the YES at EVEN money. I would like to see this rapist scumbag do some time in prison. It would for sure make Orange County a safer place.

Maybe you get lucky and share a cell with Kobe.

Now that would make Orange County a safer place indeed.
