3 defenders on him. Really lol lol
Yep, in his prime he basically did after shaq was off the team. He was pretty much shooting it every time so teams would send double and triple coverge on him

I am the biggest Kobe and I will say MJ is slightly better. Those who think MJ is way better are simply Kobe haters (its easy to be one, I get it, he's not the nicest guy in the world). Pure basketball skills (shooting, dribbling, passing , footwork, IQ) they are pretty much even. Kobe was a better difficult shot maker from distance and had slightly better handles before his hand injury and Jordan was a better close to the basket player. What makes MJ better overall is he can jump higher and stay in the air longer and he has bigger hands to hold the ball away from the defender while he is in the air. This made him way more efficient close to the basket and made his shooting percentage higher. Kobes ability to make ridiculously difficult shots from long distance made his shooting % suffer overall. There is a kobe stat that most people do not know about and that is he is by far , way ahead of any other player ever to have a teammate score after getting an offensive rebound after he misses a shot. So yes he misses a lot but he has 3 defenders on him when he misses and his teammates would score a lot because of that. I know the haters are laughing at that stat but he has won 5 rings and been to the finals 7 times. 3 finals without shaq and gasol as the second option. Mj is the best, kobe is top 5

the "haters" are laughing at this made up stat because kobe is the only player selfish enough to force a bad shot while being triple teamed to begin with lmao

is this thread f'real? kobe might not even be the greatest laker player ever lol. when the lakers 3peated remind me who was the NBA Finals MVP each of those years?

Yeah but shaq never won without a star guard. Kobe and dwayne wade. Just saying. Shaq was great but the nba is dominated by the guard position....

The kobe/ jordan discussion is a lot closer than people think. Both legends. Kobe won two rings after having l.a. rebuild his team around him. Remember the 81 pt game? Smush Parker, chris mihm. What other bums was he playing with.

its not a made up stat, but yes kobe would have less haters if he took less bad shots. He is the only player that can make them but obviously at a low percentage. Hes got 5 rings doing it this way. He has the ball in his hands the whole game and he still won a lot more than most greats. What does that say about his skills? Hes top 5.

again, three (more than half) of his rings were from riding shaq's back..

Shaq in the finals:

2000- Averaged 38.0 points, 16.7 rebounds and 2.67 blocks to lead the Lakers to a 4-2 victory over the Indiana Pacers and the franchise’s first NBA Championship since 1988. O’Neal’s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 43 points, 19 rebounds in Game #1, 40 points, 24 rebounds in Game #2 and 41 points, 12 rebounds in Game #6.

2001-Averaged 33.0 points, 15.6 rebounds and 3.40 blocks to lead the Lakers to a 4-1victory over the Philadelphia 76ers and the franchise’s second consecutive NBA Championship. O’Neal’s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 44 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in Game #1, 28 points, 20 rebounds and nine assists in Game #2 and 34 points, 14 rebounds in Game #4.

2002-Averaged 36.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.75 blocks to lead the Lakers to a sweep of the New Jersey Nets and the franchise’s third consecutive NBA Championship. O’Neal’s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 36 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in Game #1, 40 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in Game #2, 35 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in Game #3.

no where near jordan.. & mobbdeeper the same statement can be made that kobe never won without a start C/PF (Shaq, Gasol, Bynum). forget jordan, lebron nearly has kobe beat in every statistical category. much better team player and making his teammates better, better passer, better defensively, better at rebounding, etc etc. and i hate lebron so that is no way shape or form bias lol.

no sense in arguing with you laker homers. all i'm saying is if kobe was the one who left LA and shaq stayed, i'm sure you would be singing a different tune ;)

This is interesting because Kobe Bryant himself tweeted "Lbj doesn't need to prove that. I had Shaq+ Pau, Mj had Pip. Magic had worthy + Kareem etc. AND we all had great teammates" in response to a fans tweet saying "lbj has yet to prove he can win a championship without 2 other superstars." Point being, all of these players had very solid supporting casts through out their careers. Regardless of how they how were acquired. If it were trade, free agency. MJ and Kobes(sorry, but unless LeBron goes to LAL he's done.) career's are over. LeBron, however, could be in the midst of doing something spectactular. He could potentially make 5 straight NBA Finals appearances, and 6 total NBA Finals appearances by age 30. Where he can never be as efficient as MJ's 6 for 6 NBA Titles but if Bron could manage to go 3 for 6 at age 30, when MJ(because of college and baseball) was 35 when he won his 6th, he could realistically get to 3 to 4 more NBA Finals being in the East and with this young roster in Cleveland. A lot of if's and potentials but let's just let this guy finish out his career. We are all getting to watch a guy who we will tell our kid's, grand kids, and even great grand kids about some day. Just enjoy the ride.

This is simple. I could be biased, growing up watching MJ. But he would kill Kobe in a 1-on-1 matchup. And the better team player and better defender. Need I say more?
