If you remember the story Kobe's parents sold off memorabilia many years ago. This ring was purchased in the lot then. That buyer put the lot up for auction recently knowing Kobe memorabilia was at an all time demand. This is the exact ring the players are given. Kobe ordered it as players are allowed to get duplicate rings. You could never have purchased this ring for Jostens or whoever made it. It was the 2000 championship ring. Kobe had several conflicts with his parents. Most parents would never sell off a championship ring given to them by their son. Obviously it was about money. Pam and Jelly Bean Bryant probably felt Kobe should give them more money.
