I would much rather have time and a half than an hour accrued for vacation. I cannot afford to take vacation and when I do, its not really a vacation because work is still on my mind. As a commissioned outside sales account manager, it is impossible to get away from my clients, I must always have my cell phone with me in case of break downs and once every two weeks I am on call 48 hours for emergency spares. These are all part of my job duties and I don't receive time and half because I am set up as a contract employee. Nice for taxes, piss poor for pay when you exceed your draw. Many of my clients, maintenance techs, automation techs, and machine techs count on their time and a half as part of their pay and these employees who are expected to work 60 hour weeks cannot afford to take 5 days off for every 10 worked. Most employers will not allow you to bank these hours for monetary reimbursement at the end of the year, but are required to use them prior to the end of the year. Talk about productive... make your employee work 35, 60 hour weeks and have the remaining 17 off. You gotta be fvcking kidding me.

Poops - you picked your chosen field. now quit whining and get yor ass back to work or you'll be selling yourself in the unemployment line!

And don't forget - NO customer complaints - you can be replaced by and Indian on an 800 number.

Just joking! But don't it seem that way!

eek - I'm in middle management and I spend about 11 or 12 hours a day at work. - On top of that, my commute is about an hour each way.

I chose waht I do and where I work. I have some neighbors that earn about half what I do; they commute for a few minutes, work their 8, then go home.

The more you make, the more you sacrifice; the more you sacrifice, the more you make.
