[h=2]Do you feel strongly about Harambe, the hapless gorilla executed by Cincinnati zoo to protect the life of the four-year old child Isaiah whose stupid, irresponsible parents allowed him to crawl into the gorilla’s pen?[/h]Well I do too. Especially when you realise – at least by some accounts – that the gorilla was actually trying to protect the child not kill it.
But I don’t think in the outrage stakes any of us can quite compete with the angry black people in social media forums who have been blaming the incident on entrenched white privilege.

That gorilla was taken from it's homeland, put in captivity, and then killed to preserve White life. That sounds familiar.

Killing an endangered gorilla at a zoo for a white boy's safety is white privilege. If the boy was black they would've found a tranquilizer.

I have seen very active 4 year olds but how did he get into the enclosure? and not get hurt or die falling that far down? I would like to see his "point of entry" I have been to multiple Zoos before and there is usually something substantial blocking the path to inside.

You would say some shit like that.

Some of you must not have children. Accidents happen everyday. All it takes is one second for a kid to get into trouble.
JC's gonna be one of those parents that keeps his kids locked in doors in a cage, because the world is too dangerous.

Nah

But I will try to keep him out of gorilla enclosures, just as a general rule

my son is 4 so i am torn on the subject.

the gorilla from the videos I've seen was protecting the kid and seemed to completely understand that it was a small human who was scared to death.

on the other hand if SOMEHOW my son got into that cage (there would be no fucking way he would ever get into it) I don't know how i would react.

IMO killing those lions because a grown man WANTED to commit suicide is far far worse.

You must have seen the censored version. I saw the gorilla dragging the kid. Simple fix for this. Get rid of zoos. Really retarded to have all those wild animals locked up there.

The parents 100% deserve punishment

This

I have kids, but jeeez the parents need shot in this case.

Of course we're all exaggerating when we say that but my gosh what else can you say??

An animal minding it's own business shot & killed because of some stupid bitch who should be banned from every zoo in the world from here on out...

Yeah good point & never really thought of this before you just said it.

Really no need for zoos period.

Now those shelters that take in old and/or retired animals are different (we have one here)

if we look at the alternative, the wild is not safe for them. Threat of pouchers, humans messing up the eco system they live in, lack of food, predators, disease. They get to live in a simulated environment, not a cage, and there is no worry about going hungry, being eaten or even diseases. Its not a perfect world but it sounds better than living in the wild in 2016. All of these exotic animals come from 3rd world countries, their governments are not capable of doing much to protect them. Their species now survives this way.

Except in this case where a rare Gorilla gets put down because of some stupid woman who doesn't deserve the air she breathes.

Not only does she get the animal killed for no reason at all, but almost her kid too.

(I know what you meant mark & you're right. Just venting over this stupid bitch)

Zoo is totally negligent in this incident. Four year old child should not get anywhere near entering the Gorilla enclosure regardless of mothers f up.

The title of that video is fucked up... the kid was never attacked, he fell and hit his head... unconcious for a couple of mins. In the meanwhile the gorilla seemed to protect the kid from the smaller and more insecure gorillas who might see the infant as an enemy.... when the kid starting crying the gorilla actually freaked the fuck out and took his smaller ones to safety far from the loud human.

A very different behavior displayed from the other gorilla that got killed... the other gorilla was dragging the kid around the water... bare in mind, it only takes one hit for a gorilla to kill or cripple a human, imagine a 4 year old... tough call, the mom is guilty of course, and the zoo should reinforce the access to the pit... other than that a tragedy, but we would be regretting it more if the kids head was smashed by the ape.
