Never had the problem but I've been told it's a killer pain.

The pain is awful, I've had 2 in the past 6 months. I ended up going to the ER after two days of intense pain with the first one thinking it might be my appendix but they told me my appendix was fine and that it was probably kidney stones. Just doing my own research and reading everything under the sun I think possibly the amount of spinach I was eating on a daily basis contributed to my kidney stones so I've cut it out altogether. Drink lots of water, luckily for me I think the longest it took one of them to pass for me was 5 days. It's hard to sleep or even lay in bed in certain positions. I've read some stones can take up to 45 days to pass, I don't wish that shit upon anyone.
Absolute brutal. Had them twice. Nurses in ER told me welcome to the 2nd worst pain behind child birth. I have had them twice.
First time about 5 days of pain. Passed and never knew. Instant relief.
Second time it took almost 3 months. Pain was actually much worse with first one. I passed one that was almost 6mm. After almost 3 months. And just like that instant relief. Never even hurt passing. Typical this size is removed by surgery I was told.
And yes, spinach and other diet changes can produce them as one poster mentioned. I had the 2nd one I passed checked by Primary Dr. How I passed it blew there mind. But they can see if diet changes need to be made to not get others ones.
What I learned personally from them is...
You will feel the pain shifting downward as the stone gets close to passing. Back pain is worst but is much better when it falls down closer. If you start to puke it’s because of pain. I thought it was my appendix first time also. Dr said the pain is what makes you sick.
Moving around is good. Sounds silly but riding like a bumpy ass lawn mower will help shift it around. I even had one old guy tell me he got them constantly and would go ride roller coasters at a big theme park.
Something that helped me with the big one was me finally one night drinking water by the gallon. Went to bed and fought the urge to piss till I woke up next morning. Maybe TMI but Just before I couldn’t hold it anymore I pinched tip of the my dick. Trying to make more pressure when i pissed. Worked like a charm and zero pain passed a 5mm + stone. Felt great and went to work like nothing happened. It’s better than Winning a 9 team parlay when you pass one. Life becomes amazing again and you will want to conquer the world lol.
Few buddies of mine have sworn by the pound light beer. One buddy was pounding beers playing golf and passed his.

same here .. had it twice .. have never felt it pass through urine ( nor did I use a strainer )
the most painfull part is when they pass through the canal of ya kidney .. its a tiny fleshy canal and the stones are jagged ..
1st time got them I. was driving and panicked ,the pains immediate and like strong 8 or 9 out of the blue .. I couldn't keep myeyes open was. wincing. while driving .. drove straight to hospital pain was a 10 instantly .. I was wearing leather jacket at the time and when that pain hit , it was so sosharp
that I was convinced a rattlesnake was in the jacket and had bitten me ( I had read an oddball story about that happening to some guy that ordered a
leather jacket from a company manufactured in Arizona .. so iwassure that was it .. felt like something lethal

All of the above. A couple of women told me it was MORE painful than labour.
It felt like i was being stabbed.
I was puking from the pain.
Twice to ER same day / night. Second time they kept me 8.5 hours. Gave me an IV with Torodal, then morphine.
Clearly I'm not done cause if I miss taking the meds the pain is back.
Saw another guy there for same thing. He was moaning and seemed to pass in and out.

Had them once and once is enough, It felt like my back was going to explode. Rushed to the ER at 4 am, after a short miserable wait finally had an injection of pain killer and the rest was history, eventually over the course of a few days they passed. I heard afterward the can of Coke I drank in the heat was given to me by someone who wanted that to happen to me ! Worst pain I've ever had to deal with in my life. Hope you get over them asap Bruins4Life, take care buddy.
same experience here as you .. a sharp knife being twisted internally. , Oras. you said an explosion inside of you .. shit I was guessing shit , like hey where is my appendix ? could it be this or that the other .. was sure something ruptured if it wasn't a snake bite .. I even checked my car door to see if I had been shot while driving , I swear to god
