Yes there are hard numbers to back this up just look at an NFL datbase from 1994 onwards, the year the 2 point conversion came in.

Think about when a 2 point conversion is used.

Doesn't it depend on the expected total for the game? If the expected total is low >> the value of buying points is higher and vice versa if the expected total is high.

Or am I wrong?

lurker I checked the numbers your right. An example: Dog +3 is down 21-10 late in the game. They score a TD and go for 2 so they will only be down by 3. Final score 21-18 push.

I agree duck. When you buy a 1/2pt your assuming the line is correct.
