Knowing how to read a poll is more important than the results. This poll is taken from a pool of "registered voters" not "likely voters." Historically a poll of registered voters is weighted towards the dem. party and with the -/+ 3% margin of error this race is a dead heat. Bear in mind in the summer of 1987 Dukakis held a 12-15% lead on GHW Bush according to polls.

I think an interesting stat to see is going to be how many traditionaly repub voters vote against bush2, I personally know several that plan to vote against him or abstain from voting.
