NEW RASMUSSEN POLL: BUSH 47% KERRY 45%!
Rasmussen ^ | 7/7/04

Wednesday July 07, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush attracting 47% of the vote and Senator John F. Kerry with 45%. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.

Just one-third of the interviews for this survey were completed after Senator John Edwards was named as the Democrats Vice-Presidential candidate.

Among the 500 voters we interviewed last night, 45% have a favorable opinion of Edwards while 24% have an unfavorable view. Most significantly, 31% do not yet have an opinion (including 41% of unaffiliated voters). For Dick Cheney, the numbers are 40% favorable and 43% un favorable.

Yesterday, we released North Carolina polling data showing Bush with a seven-point lead in Edwards' home state. That survey was conducted before the selection of Edwards was announced.

Today, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, we will release polling data from Florida. Additional state polling data will be released later in the day. Over the course of this week, we will release new polling results for 20 states.

Our latest Electoral College update shows Kerry leading Bush at the moment by a narrow margin of 210 Electoral Votes to 203. However, 270 Electoral Votes are needed to win the White House and the key to victory will be found in the toss-up states with 125 Electoral Votes. These figures will be updated as new state data is released.

Also today at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, we will release updated ratings for President Bush on how he is handling the situation in Iraq and managing the economy.
