I will spit in Fraser's face if I ever run into him. He has a reputation for wanting to call the game the same way in the last minute as the first minute, unlike every other refereee in NHL history who put their whistles away in a close important game after the 2nd period. It's a macho thing with him. He always claims he never wants to not be the focal point of a game and somehow always ends up doing the exact opposite.
It all goes back to the Leafs-Kings in '93 when he didn't have the balls to call Gretzky for the high stick when, at the time, it was an automatic major. Ever since he's tried to make up for it by calling everything.
That 5 on 3 in Game 4 was ****ing ridiculous. He had every opportunity to even up the roughing after the original call. I didn't see who called Saprykin for the trip last night, but that was the game. He goes down to block a shot and Dingman, who can barely stand up at the best of times, falls over him. A total joke. And considering that in the Flames last 16 playoff games, the team that scored first won, that was it. Tampa just sat back and trapped after that.
For you Tampa fans who think Fraser called that penalty in the last minute because St.Louis was cut... wrong. He immediatley lifted his arm (before he could even tell Marty was cut) because he felt it was too hard a hit. Boarding probably. It made me sick. It was a sweet hit, that Marty only got cut on because he's so short and was leaning over. I thought Iginla was going to take a swing at Fraser, and he probably should have. It probably would have made no difference, but it was truly the final straw after a discraceful series of officiating, all in TB's favour... except for that penalty on Pratt with 10 minutes to go last night. WTF was that? lol. Just pathetic.
The Flames, with the heart they showed, with the injuries they had to several regulars, they deserved better, and they got screwed.
