Was reading the Paul Pierce lebron thread,,, and thought to myself,,, If Lebron was playing in the 90s? who would He be like?

Kindof a difficult question,, but You were forced to play roles in the 90s and earlier,,, they would of put him as a Forward,,, and becasue of his atheltic ability? I think He would of been almost as good as Karl Malone.

Karl was kindof known as Almost incredible.. lol,, almost Awsome,,,

any thoughts?

Answer is nobody. We’ve never seen anybody like Lebron. Magic Johnson is the closest comparison but overall Lebron is better. Not sure why it has to be a forward. Lebron is running point for the Lakers currently.

Lets go to the first line of post number 1

"If Lebron WAS playing in the 90's"

Very slim chance Lebron would be a "guard". Malone is a perfect comparison as they have the same body frame. In fact, Lebron has a bigger body frame than Malone with Magic Johnson like passing skills.

The game was ALOT different in the 90's (and possibly more enjoyable)

Lebron is a guard to me. He could be playing in any era and would still be able to dribble.

Lebron has the same body frame as Malone. But skill wise they are completely different. So difficult for me to compare them. Malone’s best ability was scoring with his back to the basket and pick and pop. Lebron is a downhill point forward guard like player. Before James Harden added a new move every year, harden was like the mini Lebron to me offensively. Both downhill attacking guards.

From previous generations, Magic is the best comparison to LeBron for skills. Jordan is the best comparison for value to his team.

Malone shoots 300 three-point shots for his career and never goes above 4.5 assists per game in any season (and as low as 1.9). LeBron shoots 2000 three-pointers and never goes below 5.9 assists, and as high as 10.6 this year.

90's basketball is a lot different than today's game.

Back then, 7 footers were more valuable.

Teams played defense.

If you scored 100 pts a game, you were a team that likes to "run" alot

Harden wouldnt have been a superstar if he played in the 90's

A big Scottie Pippen.

Pippen played the "number 2" role beautifully.

Not sure Lebron could do the same. Too much of an alpha dog mentality.

Lebron is WAY better than Pippen but MJ and Lebron would have clashed too many times with their "alpha dog mentalities"

Obviously, different position and skill set - but he is David Robinson - just a freak - good at everything - gonna get 25 plus with all the toppings - but when you absolutely need 3 baskets in a row - he aint gonna be the guy - and even if he takes the shots they will look so forced or unnatural - polar opposting of someone like Dirk or Pierce or Durant
