Ok, here we go with the professional picks. I've been waiting for this one for awhile.

Denver enters this prime time home opener having looked miserable in preseason and with many unanswered questions on offense. Gone are Shannon Sharpe, Ed McCaffrey and most importantly Clinton Portis from what was a solid offense last year. Denver has only one solid veteran receiver in Rod Smith and will likely start rookie Darious Watts (from Marshall) as the second receiver with Ashlee Leilee getting equal time. At running back Denver will rely on tiny Quentin Griffin to carry the majority of reps. At QB the consistenly unreliable Jake Plummer will run the show. Sounds bad huh?

The good news is Denver's defense is solid and it added shutdown corner Champ Bailey.

KC brings back a solid offense but there are questions also for this team at wide receiver. Eddie Kinnison appears the number one wideout with an injured Johnny Morton as the number two receiver. KC's other big question mark is its defense. Last year it was terrible but this year Gunther Cunningham will head the unit and it's expected to be vastly improved.

So, what's this all leading up to? DENVER! Mike Shannahan did absolutely nothing in preparation for the Broncos' preseason games. It is fact he put together no game plans at all. His focus has been on this home opener and he will have a solid gameplan you can be assured. Denver ended last season on an extremely sour note getting waxed in Indianapolis. You can bet that game coupled with the importance of this opener will have the Broncos playing well. KC is solid but they're in a tough spot here. Denver is better on defense and will hold KC down. Denver's offense, while not stellar, will make enough plays to win this game and get the cover. Denver -3 is an excellent value here. Take the Broncos and lay the 3, they should win by 7-10 points.

I like this pick as well. Denver took K.C. behind the woodshed last year at Mile High and with virtually the same defense for K.C. I don't see much improvement. Gunther can draw it up on defense but he's not the one attempting to make tackles on the field. K.C. rarely wins at Mile High let alone stay within 3pts.

the only point i would add here is the broncos had Porits LY and they don't have him TY - and there is a sliiiiiiiiiiight drop-off from Portis to Griffin and the rest of the RBBC.

having said that - i will be rooting my boys on big time!

Not trying to be arrogant by this bump, but I feel very strongly about this game and have been hot out of the box. For what it's worth.

Good luck to all.

Broncos making this game look like easy money tonight. Chiefs still have the same old defense. I love it when games are over by half time. Bailey and Griffin are studs!

Jake thinks he's back in Arizona. I don't know why Denver picked up this dog. He throws interceptions.

He is unbelievably stupid. If I'm Shanahan, I sit his ass and go with the backup. SHIT, that fucking idiot just gave KC 10 points. If the Broncos didn't have Griffith, they would be getting BOMBED!

Denver just came out too relaxed in the 2nd half after that lead in the first half. I wouldn't sweat it...the Chiefs D isn't very good. Jake's just making them look good right now. Chiefs time in the limelight won't last long. Broncos will pick it up.
