Jones was "limited" in Seahawks practice for the second straight day Friday.
Jones' lung is still bruised, and he is questionable on the injury report. Despite Mora's unreasonable early-week optimism, Jones' status is very much in doubt for Sunday's game against the Rams. The teams will square off at 1PM ET Sunday. Justin Forsett will be the every-down back if Jones sits.

We can thank Jim Mora for creating so much uncertainty about this situation by declaring Jones would face the Rams early this week. In reality, the running back has a serious injury to his ribs and lungs, is still in pain, and was never likely to play. Mora even got the Seahawks' beat writers to buy into his line of thinking. Justin Forsett will start on Sunday.

Forsett is a legit running back and deserves at least a share of the work even when Jones (ribs, lung) returns to the lineup. Forsett is showing an ability to make people miss -- something Julius Jones does not do.

Julius Jones - RB - Seahawks Updating a previous item, Seahawks coach Jim Mora admitted Monday that he doesn't know Julius Jones' (ribs, lung) status for Week 13.
"I don't know where he will be this week," Mora said. "Hopefully, he'll be ready to play, but I can't say with any certainty that will be the case. We'll just have to see where we are when the week goes on." Justin Forsett appears to have a chance to make a third straight start Sunday against the 49ers. November 30

Julius Jones - RB - Seahawks Julius Jones (chest) returned to Seahawks practice in full Wednesday.
We feel a bit guilty making Jones' return to full practice a top story on Rotoworld considering his season-long ineffectiveness, but his status does affect a relevant fantasy player (Justin Forsett). Jones, averaging a paltry 3.7 yards per carry on the year, appears to be on track to return against San Francisco. If he does, expect an even timeshare between him and Forsett. December 2

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"No," he said when asked if he'd start the game. Seattle is likely reducing its odds of beating San Francisco by reinstalling Julius Jones as the starting tailback, but it isn't like Jim Mora's team knows how to win. They've won four games all year; two against St. Louis and one against Detroit.

The injury is being termed a quadriceps "strain." "I think he'll be OK, but I can't tell you for sure," coach Jim Mora said. Forsett tried to downplay the injury, calling it a "little tweak," but this makes the decision easy for fantasy owners contemplating using Forsett against San Francisco's top-five run defense. With Julius Jones fully expected back, Forsett is a poor flex option.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>It's worth noting that Forsett is not on the injury report his week; Mora blamed Forsett's measly eight touches in last Sunday's game on a thigh injury. The "personnel groupings" explanation now indicates that Jones will remain the starter and featured back on early downs, with Forsett playing in passing situations. Keep both backs reserved in Week 14 against Houston.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The Seahawks limited Forsett's snaps lat week because of a strained quad. Mora did not designate a starting running back for this week, saying it will depend on what formation they open in. Look for a fairly even timeshare this week, with Julius Jones getting the early down and red zone work. Avoid this situation if you can in fantasy.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Coach Jim Mora revealed Friday that he plans to use Justin Forsett and Julius Jones in a "split series" rotation Sunday versus Tampa Bay.
Forsett is also replacing Nate Burleson (out, ankle) on punt returns. The new rotation means Forsett will dominate every other possession, even though Jones will start. It's an even committee now, and Forsett will get the goal-line carries if the Seahawks get in scoring position on his possessions. Forsett is a quality RB2 in PPR leagues. He's also a flex option in non-PPR.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The injury doesn't sound serious at all, but it's worth noting that Jones dealt with rib and lung issues just a few weeks ago. This could be the opening that Justin Forsett needs to re-assume his role as the unquestioned feature back over the final two weeks of the season. Owners need to monitor practice reports this week closely.

Julius Jones - RB - Seahawks Julius Jones (ribs, ankle) is considered questionable for Week 17.
Jones re-injured his ribs for the second week in a row on Sunday, and also tweaked his ankle. He's not likely to be back with Seattle in 2010, so the Seahawks may as well feature Justin Forsett against the Titans in Week 17. December 28 - 6:10 p.m. ET
