His speech tonight sounds like Al Gore on downers...what a depressing man to listen to. His populism lecture (not enough emotion to call it a rant) is forced, boring, and without any sign of sincerity.

It is gonna be a dull campaign this year.

I agree. He so reminds me of Bob Dole pretending he could beat Clinton. A dull old senator and war hero trying to convince the world that he is a better choice than the sitting president. He better wisely pick a running mate.

Kinda disappointed you guys are picking on war veterans decorated for bravery such as Dole and kerry, (and c****ing parties) who I have great respect for.

In addition, I would add to war veterans who i respect:

George H. Bush (R)
John McCain (R)
Colin Powell (R)
Bob Kerry (D)
George McGovern (D)
Any of the above walked the walk. The following just talked the talk and avoided combat:

Bill Clinton (D)
Al Gore (D)
George W. Bush (R)
Dick Cheney (R)
Dan Quayle (R)

Question their leadership (Dole & Kerry), at least they laid it on the line as most current leaders haven't.

Y'all convince me who's a more inspring leader? Somebody who avoided military duty and went AWOL for a year in the National Guard or somebody who picked up Silver Star in VietNam for bravery. Who you really wanna follow?

Bush or Kerry?

Its nothing against their veteran status, it is just they have to inspire people to vote for them. Both Dole and Kerry just aren't inspiring much and worst of all they both spent all their time with vague "the President is screwing you over" speeches. Kerry needs to get positive, he needs to show a more human touch if he wants to get the middle of the road voters. He can't have Teddy Kennedy be all the personality of the campaign. It was sad that Dole didn't lighten up, his dry humor and ability to laugh at himself is rare, yet it never came out during the campaign. It was all about my x years in Washington, my service to the country, and the moron that is in the Oval Office. Voters want more than that.

I've aware that Sr. is W's dad. I just didn't realize he was a war veteran.

George H. Bush or Bush the elder was a fighter pilot in WWII and earned the distinguished Flying C**** for bravery in action. He was shot down by the Japs and rescued by a U.S. submarine of which they have actual footage of.

I believe he was the only surviving member of the crew - I saw him speak about it once on a TV show, actually very moving. Anybody have a link?

From what I've read the eight other guys he was with survived being shot down, but were captured by the Japs and a few weeks later got their heads chopped off.
