Good move for them. Now they have a solid option if Lance gets hurt, which obviously isn’t out of the question. He’ll also be easier to move mid season if a team is desperate, though Jimmy will have to be OK with it cuz of no trade clause

Thought for sure he was going to go to Seattle, guess they didn't get what they wanted OR Sudfeld and Purdy stunk it up so bad in preseason the Niners said ''maybe we should hang onto him just in case'', lol

Hard to judge whether or not a QB will be good but I see Lance as a shit version of Lamar.

I suppose they can't cut their 30 million per year mistake, so they have the most expensive backup in NFL history

I'm guessing they're hoping somebody becomes interested once a few QBs go down

Disagree completely

Way less run dependent, has a way a better arm than Lamar. Twice the arm Jimmy has. If anything he's a "Lite" version of a Mahomes.

The bigger concern for Lance is putting too much zip on short/intermediate throws. But he's accurate, and he could develop into one of the best deep ball throwers in the league -- something the 49ers desperately could use quite frankly

Already looking like the Jets made a big mistake with the No.2 pick, but I think that mistake gets amplified this season

If Jimmy takes over as QB, I can see SF in the Super Bowl. With Lance, it is a transition year with a question mark regarding if that transition moving up or down in 2023.

I'm heavy again on the Rams , so was hoping they'd trade him. Team responds to him . Don't want Jimmy to come be the savior , because he's capable of doing just that

Think they are going to benefit from Lance greatly. Makes their offense way more dynamic. Aiyuk will actually be utilizied properly given that his QB no longer has a noodle arm and can actually get the ball down the field

Jimmy G has some good qualities: great teammate/leader, gets the ball out fast, eye candy, etc,

But he was also prone to making very poor decisions -- especially late in playoff games.

Lance doesn't have to be mistake-free to be a solid upgrade over Jimmy G. That's what some people don't seem to understand about this.

FWIW: Aiyuk should be a guy you look at for a receiving yards, TD props

Thinking he's still decent trade bait if Lance plays well...but I'd guess the 49ers would need to eat part of the contact still. Team looking at a possible playoff run could use him after a starter gets hurt.
He has value later.

Yep, Lance starts.

What happens if the Niners have a losing record after several games with Lance at the helm and the fanbase thinks Lance is a big part of the problem?

The controversy will start.
