Sounds like Ed Norton in the new Draftkings ad. Draftkings ads are like on every channel, even the non sports ones.

I guess Fan Duel is Ok then? I've never seen so many commercials for either one!

That's why Fantasydraft will be a big player in this biz . They have deep payout zones , so more people can win . They pay out a min of 25% of the field . They have a low rake, and do no advertising. They use a very effective affiliate comp program to spread the word, and give that money they don't have to spend on TV, back to the players . Also limiting the amount of lineups each player can have , per contest, levels the playing field from the Sharks who enter 100s of lineups

I know the owner. I believe in what they are doing and it's fun to promote something you believe in.

It's just a challenge too .

The two big boys are burning up their cash, and burning through their players

You never know.

Once an industry gets frothy, you never know what a company can fetch as an acquisition but I'd be surprised if they made any real headway at this point.

I think Victiv got like 5-10mill from Amaya and that company really had no following so anything is possible. People love a trend.

FanDuel for sure and I think DraftKings too, will offer 50/50 newbie contests [bases and hockey is what I did]. You will get 50 in each sport before "graduating". These newbie contests are pretty easy to win money in. I was up over $300 in FD and a bit less in DK playing very small entry amounts. But when I continued, I lost most of my profit and cashed out. I just tried to grind and never did play what I consider the lottery games.

Is kind of fun, but not worth the hassle IMO. Ease of money movement is the best thing about it, but the more folks that play this stuff the further we will go down the rabbit hole in terms of traditional on line sports betting. A new generation will soon know only this.

That sounds like a pretty fair assessment.

I'd say it isn't worth the hassle for most other than entertainment. You aren't going to just make mediocre lineups and win (infact, winning is getting harder than ever as information is disseminated better)

It does seem like people get a lot more entertainment out of it playing $20-50 a week than they would at say sports betting though. In general I think people are more into interactive based gaming rather than just pushing a button or two.

That actually makes me want to join. Do people win these on a regular basis? Obviously people don't win 10k every week but do most people win at least a couple hundred dollars a week?

99.99% of people who join the site aren't going to turn $3 into 10k and obviously most people don't win a few hundred a week. Most people lose, like most forms of gambling.

Ok. I couldn't imagine myself liking this type of thing anyway. Never been a fan of it. At least putting down $50 on a game you got something to root for.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't rocket science at all.

But if you aren't into fantasy sports then you probably wouldn't enjoy it and if you don't enjoy it you can't really win at it. Similar to any other game you are trying to get an advantage out of. You gotta atleast somewhat like poker to win at it, etc...

Obviously there are exceptions but I think you get what I'm saying.

I think I've read that only 1.8% of the players make money there, compared to about 4% in sports betting. It could be skilled players, or the luck of the draw winning a huge payday.

Not sure on those #s. Sports betting the house edge is pretty small so a lot of people can be short-term winners but have no real edge as far as implied odds go. Then the market being efficient makes their floor pretty high. So they can win in the short-term. There are so many different ways to bet sports that it is tough to quantify something like that. For instance, people bonus whoring 12 years ago were all making $, people betting at -105 do better than people betting at -110, some people win but then can't get action down anymore without it being a pain in the ass etc

For the DFS side, the sheer # of people in the GPPs probably makes the 1.8% number right. Most people will just lose a small amount. As far as day to day people grinding a profit though, I don't have published info but I would say a decent portion of them are atleast some level of profitable. If you weren't then you would find something else to do pretty fast.
