Keep in mind I only watched from the 50 min mark so not sure about the first part but I was surprised at the way they announced the game.

Whenever it looked like the US was fouled, the refs were right not to call it, but whenever it looked like Japan was fouled it def should have been called. Adu got crushed in the box at the 66 min mark and the color guy says NO WAY it should be called. A little later a lighter foul may have been committed in the US box (80 min mark) and it "def should have been a pk" Then they said repeatedly that Japan should be winning and "deserve atleast 1 goal" and have been "unlucky" WTF?

But ayways congrats to US backers! USA ALL THE WAY!!

the Adu foul was really shoulder on shoulder which is legal in football. the ref could have called a penalty as the Japanese defender then kept pushing after the shoulder but Adu had been flopping most of the match and the ref was not going to be shown up by the kid

no doubt both of the fouls vs japan in the box were clear penalties. Edu mashed the one guy (honda or toyoda...some car) and then later on got deked so bad he had no choice but to haul down the next guy by the jersey. neither were called

actually worst call of the match went AGAINST the US when a Japanese player, standing 2 yards offside, should have easily headed the ball home but missed wide. That would have been the opening goal and would have been very controversial as there is no way that linesman could not see two Japanese players off by 2m

that said, great win for USA and probably the only points they get as Guzan saved the defense way too many times

rolltide, agree w/ you on those missed calls.

Japan U23, like the sr. natl. side, just can't finish. They deserved a draw but, yeah, Guzan saved the day for the USA.
