2nd place on Jeopardy pays $2000 and 3rd pays $1000. You only get to keep your 'winnings' if you finish in first that day. So all the people behind are risking is the differenc ebetween 2nd and 3rd($1000) if they make a big dailydouble bet near end in an attempt to get within range of Ken.

All those shows were taped, I read he is already back home and that he ended up winning like 730K or 830K. He is not giving out interviews yet cuz then it would ruin the fun

He won again on todays show @ 920, if he`d bet 1 more dollar on the final he would have been the 1 day champ.

Watching it right now.

Kate is the worst player I've ever seen. She has answered (without buzzing) TWICE! What a joke.

With two questions on the board, she had -$400. But she got the $1600 question and finished with $1200. She barely made Final Jeopardy!

Yeah, Kate was a disaster. Could've been my grandmother and she was flopping all over the place with her answers and that buzzer.

FINAL JEOPARDY

This nation has the smallest population of the G8 industrial nations.

Proving (beyond all doubt) that she is the worst player ever to appear on Jeopardy, Kate answered with:

SWITZERLAND

Unfortunately, Switzerland isn't even a member of G8. Duh!

While I don't necessarily think everybody should know all the G8 nations, I do think Jeopardy contestants should have a working knowledge of such topics (for example, at least the other guy was smart enough to guess England).

(FYI, Canada was the correct answer.)

Is any book putting up a prop at to what day he will lose or how many more days he will win.
I would bet the over. I don't know how they keep secret when he is eliminated due to the studio audience. It's not like Survivor where the crew and cast is sworn to secrecy. I know they tape several shows each day.

I didn't watch the earlier shows and didn't know he had some close calls. He's been blowing away this weeks contestants.

Reminds me of The Quiz Show movie. Is this guy Van Doren and getting the answers, LOL.

It cracks me up when other players get a Daily Double (which is rare because Jennings usually controls the board) and they play conservatively. I mean, against this guy, if he has $10,000 and you have $5,000, you have to go for it because it might be your only chance, but I've seen players bet only $1,000 or $2,000 in that situation...Are they really that cocky that they think they'll make up that ground the normal way???...I've seen opponents even bet less than the amount that the question would normally be worth. You have to play to win...you don't keep the money you earn if you finish second.

I'm not saying I could beat Jennings (I'd need a run of categories along the lines of sports/Seinfeld/Simpsons/80s music to have any kind of shot...but I know I'd at least put myself in the best possible position to have a chance.

The book would have to be run by monkeys to put up a prop...Ken has been home since February.

I'm pretty certain he'll cross 1 mil...I believe the Jeopardy record is 1,150,000, or around there, during a "Masters" tourament.

Ken does piss me off a bit...there was no reason whatsoever not to have bet the extra $1 tonight to attain the single-day record. Even if he got the answer wrong, he still would've won the day - no matter if the other two contestants had doubled their money.

That irks me. Not even sure why.

I have to admit I didn't know Canada was member of G-8. I guessed Italy. Anybody want to list the eight?

Upset, the only horse to beat M O War. Contrary to popular thought Man did not win the triple crown. He didn`t enter the Derby that yr (1920), he won Preakness & Belmont.

"Did Ken even know what the record was?"

Trebek has only reminded him nearly every single day he's been on.

Obviously, he doesn't want to hold it for whatever reason. His perogative, I guess, but it's still somewhat irksome. If you have a chance to do something, do it.

Haven't watched much of his streak (except for last night). Didn't know he was aware of the one-day record.

But that's definitely strange. He purposely avoided the one-day record!

Not sure why he'd care about breaking (or not breaking) certain records. At this point, I'm sure he has already broken dozens of Jeopardy records.

Even when he has a chance to win more (and no one has a chance to catch him on Final Jeopardy), he tends to like round numbers...which is why he's won exactly $40,000 many times. He also does that in daily doubles...he'll calculate his wager to bring him to $20,000 or $25,000 or whatever he sees as the next plateau. He's very anal that way.
