Forgot to mention Chris Petersen. I think he would leave WA if Rams offered double his current salary of 3.6M. He'd be worth it.

Harbaugh would be great but don't see him leaving Mich unless he beats OSU, makes the playoffs and is made the highest paid coach in NFL. Gruden would be awesome too but don't see him leaving his comfy TV gig unless Rams make him an offer he can't refuse.

More realistic candidates are David Shaw, Tom Coughlin and Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels, yeah totally BigTime but Josh has a "spot" on his record? some sort of _____Gate Scandal? I forget which one

Thats probably No Biggie, may not keep Josh from ascending to HC some day but it is, maybe...there, that Blemish.

IMO Harbaugh is at Michigan For Life. What guys fail to consider is uppermost for The Comeback Kid is Development of Players

Working with Young People, Hungry and with Time to Build rather than working with tempermental millionaires with Immediate Super Bowl Win ASAP, a requirement.

Yeah I do Grasp that with Michigan there is some degree of Impatience but no thing like NFL and within, Michigan knows they have their Coach for the next 25 years, or whatever.

Player development, Building a Successful Program, ascending to Legend Status up with or even above Bo Schembeckler, Woody Hayes etc.

This is what is important to Harbaugh. He ain't leaving Michigan.

I don't know. That was my question.

1999 thru 2003 it looked like this guy was gonna be a coaching powerhouse, in NFL for some time to come.

WTF happened?

fisher.0801.jpg

Some guys here can prolly explain it.

Fisher to USC?!?!

No Disrespect to Clay Helton, of course but feels like Alum and Serious 'SC Fans fully know that Helton is not a Longtern Solution/Hire.

Early life

A native of Southern California, Fisher starred as a high school All-American wide receiver at Taft High School in Woodland Hills.

Playing career

Fisher went on to star at USC, under coach John Robinson. During his collegiate career (1977–80), he played alongside such defensive stars as Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, and Joey Browner. Fisher's USC teammates also included star offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, whom he would coach years later with the Oilers and Titans. Fisher and the Trojans won a national championship during the 1978 season, and in 1980 he was honored as a Pac-10 All-Academic selection.

Fisher-USC-SI.jpg

Fisher was drafted in the seventh round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. He appeared in 49 games as a defensive back and return specialist in his five seasons with the Bears.

In 1983, Fisher had suffered a broken leg on a punt return[SUP][3][/SUP] when he was tackled by then-Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bill Cowher. Coincidentally the two became rivals as head coaches beginning in the AFC Central in 1995; Fisher's Oilers/Titans squads came out with an 11–7 record against Cowher's Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fisher earned a Super Bowl ring after Chicago's 1985 Super Bowl season, despite spending the year on injured reserve with an ankle injury that prematurely ended his playing career. Fisher stayed with the Bears as a defensive assistant while on injured reserve for the season.[SUP][4]

:):)

Understatement of The Millennium. :):)

Thats all Sam Darnold's fault tho. Before 'SC put in damn Darnold the pace The Trojans were making was PERFECT for Fisher to just walk across the street, from The LA Colosseum, to the Campus of USC.

Perfect.

You're so Right tho lmfao.....WAY TOO SOON.

right this moment. :):)

Never say never. Remember Harbaugh had no intentions of leaving SF even though Michigan job opened up until he was forced out. So you have to believe he wants to return. He's just 52 so I can't see him staying put at Michigan for 25+ years especially with his history of leaving teams after a few seasons.

McDaniels got the Broncos HC job after Spygate 1, got a job with Rams as OC after Spygate 2 so he should have no problem getting another job. But my order of preference is: Harbaugh, Gruden, Petersen, Shaw, Coughlin then McDanields.

Great, and interesting List IMO. Which is also that Gruden never leaves Broadcasting. :):)

Just as I feel Harbaugh has found His Place.

That He & Michigan are a unique and unusual Union that should not be messed with.

If Harbaugh is dumb enough to interrupt that, over (more) money, thats on him but I really really doubt that he (or Michigan) derail this.

We had The Harbaugh Bros. Super Bowl, He had the chance to Experience what Bullshit NFL Coaching can be.

At just 52 yrs old 25 years at Michigan he's only 77 years old.

I firmly believe that Harbaugh is HC at Michigan until he is 88 years old.

Like Vin Scully. Tho I do believe Vin was 89. when he retired.

Good Point on McDaniels and The Spygates.....won't impair his advancement, I guess.

Very Interesting List tho. :toast:

Petersen, very intriguing IMO........

"too soon" on Chris P tho? Too?

Oakland wants harbaugh gtfo here. They are 10-3 with 1st winning record in over a decade. Del rio isn't leaving Oakland

yeah you aren't picking up the sarcasm. two years ago while Harbaugh was already hired by Michigan and on a airplane headed to Ann Arbor, NFL reporters were going around saying that oakland was still in play because they couldn't see how in the world he would go to michigan over choosing the raiders.

Idiotas.

Good Number of Folks pronounced "hell no" with some fire too, on the concept that Harbaugh would choose to go to MICH.

Yeah I understand some will cite: "Circumstances", extenuating factors happened AFTER they said that blah blah blah

but Michigan & Harbaugh was among the best and most "meant to be" Fits in History maybe ever really

just as Fisher heading up USC might be.

It was truly ridiculous watching NFL and main stream reporters just be completely 1000% wrong every step of the way with the Harbaugh hire by Michigan. People in the know at Michigan, like John U Bacon, were saying for 2-3 days before places like ESPN finally announced it that it was a done deal and he was coming to Michigan. I honestly haven't paid much attention to anything ESPN says since that date two years ago. They don't ever break a story, they simply follow behind people that really break stories and then they claim that they were the ones to break it.

Was a Breaking Point for me, as well. I don't claim at all to be "sharp" about who should coach where, what guys should choose to do and what the best most +EV choice would be in a given situation but Sports Media was just so across the board insisting Harbaugh was not going to take that job that was so right for him.

What it was, for me, that incessant and way too much "coverage"(total speculation) was what has been for many people with Mainstream Media of late: That Point where I realized I was wasting time listening to these "experts".

So it is interesting that coverage of The Harbaugh Situation led to the same thing for you.

They really did blow that one even more than they usually completely whiff. Mystical really, it being such a perfect fit.
