Haha! I would never... was just making a point. But sometimes things work out regardless.

Down 7-1? 11-5? No problem! We survived #Blistergate... Boy, do I love this offense... it's going to be a very, very fun season.

I'm interested to see odds on Kris Bryant to win NL MVP.

The kid is out of this world. Last year was NOTHING. He is only going to get better. The smartest, most composed and mature prospect I've ever seen firsthand. His natural power is indescribable... you just have to go to a game and watch. I was sitting in the left center bleachers when he hit the top left of the new jumbotron and I was floored. His swing is so effortless too... that's the part that shocks me so much. Combine that with his disciplined eye and ability to adjust to pitchers MID AT BAT and his offensive potential is immeasurable. I'll circle back to this one...

The (fp) as the risk stands for Bonus Play. I cut a deal with my local to get 10% Bonus Play back on losing weeks so I have some accrued that I like to use on long-shot props. This is a no-brainer for me with Bonus Play at my disposal so I can't really speak to others risking actual cash on this. The futures lines my local uses are vigged pretty heavily so if you are going to bite on this I recommend shopping for a better line (5Dimes has +1000 available at the moment). I can't shop because I only have this Bonus Play at this out but I'd rather have a worse line using Bonus Play than the best line risking cash. Also looking at Arrieta Cy Young winner +600 for Bonus Play while there are some +700-750s out there.

Anyway, I've pretty much already said why I like KB above. I'll add that he's worked with Mallee this offseason to flatten out his swing which should reduce his number of strikeouts and increase his number of homers. It's good to get it up in the air at Wrigley when the wind is blowing out but half the time it's blowing in and you need to hit lasers to get it into the bleachers. Too many times last year did he hit rainmakers that ended up being caught on the warning track. Maddon has also mentioned the importance of getting guys on base in front of Rizzo/Bryant so while he will be toying with the lineup at all times and we will see a lot of variation, I expect most of KB's at bats to come in the 4/5 slot which will give him an unholy amount of RBI opportunities. I think KB wins multiple MVPs in his career and if he plays less than 20 years we've got the odds (9-1 or better) and the supporting cast to take a stab at this... especially when he's playing on a team that is the preseason favorite... W's always help an MVP campaign!

I added these three wagers at the $500 prop max and will be contacting my guy to get higher amounts on the two totals (HR and W). I've pretty much explained everything I've needed to about Bryant and Jake is Jake. The only thing that worries me about Arrieta is Maddon shortening the leash on him this year to keep his innings under control but with our offense and Jake's filthy stuff I still think these are worth a stab.

I previously mentioned "hitter" because he was already outstanding in the field last year (4th in defensive runs saved at SS & 2B even though only playing 140 games)... but let me clarify... I'm picking Addy as the breakout player of the year. This kid is going to be a STUD. Nothing but GREAT things coming out of camp about him. So excited to see what he does this year. He played the entire 2015 season at age 21 - the youngest player on the team. He will only continue to get better and better. Can't wait!

My guy got back to me 10 minutes before first pitch and updated my account; I have these to win 2k each now. He also finally posted the very large wager I mentioned towards the beginning of this thread but I won't be posting that one since I know it would only lead to nonsense.

Like the Bryant total for sure...

no no worries about arrieta possibly breaking down a bit this year? He seemed to be out of gas in postseason last year?

i think I'm going to jump aboard the Bryant play you have assuming my local has that.

Thanks...

good luck this year!

Not really. The only concern I have is Maddon trying to limit his innings a bit to save him for the postseason which could cost him a win or two if we break a tie the inning after he's pulled but in terms of conditioning this guy is a FREAK. His workout routine and regimen is insane and he covers all the bases including nutrition, pilates, strength training... everything. I don't know all the details about players on other teams but I'd be shocked if there's someone who prepares themselves better than Jake. In regards to performance it should be expected for him to regress a bit but that's only because he just had what was literally the best second half of a season... ever. His stuff is nasty and he is a smart pitcher that should do more than enough to put him in position for at least 16 wins. Of course, it doesn't hurt that our offense should put up plenty of runs as well.

Garrett Richards ERA in 2015 was a run higher than his great season in 2014. The main reason behind this was the absence of his two-seam fastball which he has been working to get back in form this spring. It hasn't gone too well, as he gave up 9 ER in about 14 spring innings. If he's able to command and execute this pitch tonight we might have a tough time scoring runs but I'll take my chances that he won't be in dominant form. I will be taking close looks at Cubs team totals when playing in AL parks because us having a DH is almost unfair. Lineups aren't out yet but I know what to expect with the only real question being Soler or La Stella at DH. If I can get a TT under 4 for a Cubs lineup that includes a DH I'm going to take it most of the time.

I saw the line dip a bit and I grabbed it. See above... if I expect the Cubs to score at least 4 runs, you can assume I like Jake's chances to lead us to victory... We also have a bullpen edge. This is a no-brainer plug and play; you won't see many price opportunities similar to this one for Jake backed by a DH this year.
