I wonder if he will post again?

Extreem , that sounds awful....I know they always say everyone in prison thinks their innocent....it seems like from what you`re saying you did nothing wrong...without getting too personal, is that your only incident? How long have you been back out?

Extreme, While I feel badly for you and similiar people that got involved with illegal drugs--in many cases to support their own habit, rather than become a "drug kingpin"; it does not lesson my congrats to Jay Cohen.
You will probably laugh as he could have taken the easy way--never returned to the US and lived quite well I'm sure. No--he stood up for what he believed in and what he had been told by attorneys was "legal". I see him as a sort of Patrick Henry to modern day freedom lovers.
"Give me Liberty or ----".
Our war on drugs is probably a failure for the most part, but has saved some lives I am sure. The US was on Jay Cohen--has saved nothing.

journey,

i'm not saying i was innocent, i'm not one of those guys trust me. thats why i went to trial facing 30 years and 9 counts. they wanted me to plead guilt to 30 years i ended up going to trial and beating 7 of 9 counts and got 10 years. being innocent has nothing to do with being convicted on conspriacy where you get thrown in the slammer on someones word who is trying to save there own ass. i was a first time offender, i was 17 years old. i've been out for 2 years.

oldmantime,

tell me the last time you heard of sending someone to prison for marijuana saved a life.

Sending someone to prison for marijuana may or may not have saved that that person's life. But with drugs and I know ("it's just marijuana"), it's still a severe mood altering product--not unlike alcohol-I might add. I think, you know and I know that people do things on alcohol and certaintly marijuana's influence that can lead to hurting others. Alcohol has killed more people DIRECTLY than marijuana. But two wrongs never made a right.

oldmantime,

i'm not saying marijuana, is safe, legal or anything else, but i do strongly disagree with your statement saying marijuana leads people to hurt one another. i would love for you to post one document where they proved marijuana killed someone. also i would like to see some documentation where someone hurt someone because they where high on marijuana. the only thing people want to do when they are high is eat and sleep not go out and hunt down peoplke to hurt.

You are 100% right--extreme. I made it all up--I can't document one single event where someone on Marij. did harm to someone else!!
You'll have to excuse me--I just dropped in from planet mars and and am certifibly crazy.

As disturbing as I find marijuana use, I think 10 years for a *then* 17 year-kid is nothing less than cruel and unusual punishment.

Our government NEVER ceases to disgust and embarrass me.

one more disturbing thing is when i was going to trial, their was 4 asian guys who kidnapped a girl in seattle took her to new york they all took turns raping her and then when her parents didn't comply with the ransom the cut off her finger and fedex it to her parents, the moral to my story is they each got 7 years as i served 10 for a non-violent crime with no victim.
