Gazetta announced the penalties for the teams involved in the scandal in italy:

Juve relegated to seria B and they start with -20 pts in the season
Florenz and Lazio relegated to seria B and they start with -10 pts
AC Milan: remains in seria A, but cannot play in ECL and will start with -10 pts.

Therefore: Inter, AS ROM, Chievo and Palermo will start in ECL for Italy.

This might be a fun year of betting the seria B:103631605

That's incredible chris!

Can we expect to see lines like "Juve -5 -167 over XXX"?

Not that high because many of the Juve players will leave.

Does Juventus stand a chance of making it back to Serie A in '07-'08? 30 points down and a potential fire sale for their best players.

It appears more likely they get relegated to Serie C than make it back to Serie A in '07-'08. Consider it a successful year if they avoid the drop.

I just read in the papers that these clubs still have appeals available to them so this is not a final deal just yet. Imagine if the Yankees were relegated to playing AAA ball. You could imagine a lawsuit.

No way Juve makes it back to Serie A next season with 30 points in the hole and a junior team on their side. First place this year in Serie B ended up with 81 points, meaning Juve would have to finish with 111 out of a possible 126 to win the league. More likely is the drop, which was 39 points, meaning Juve still needs over half the points possible to avoid dropping to C. This could very well completely ruin this team for good.

As for AC Milan, starting 15 points in the hole might make several players leave, especially knowing that there is no ECL this year. If they do hold it together, they should finish mid-table. If not, they might be dropping as well.

Who's representing Italy in ECL now??? Inter and who??? Roma???

Inter, Roma, Chievo Verona and Palermo will be in CL this year. If Milan can keep the team together they could get back into CL next year but would need a REALLY good season. Last year they had 88 points with 4th place Fiorentina at 74, so they would be close. Of course, they were cheating last year so how real is that 88 points?
