Home teams, especially home dogs have not gotten it done this year. This is a week when I think too many players and/or the public begin to think that plays are too easy. It is time for a reality check.

There are three home dogs this week that I like ...Jacksonvile, Cincinnati and San Diego. I expect two of three to win outright and thus cover the number. Of course the home dog on Monday night is always potent, although 0-2 this year. My big upset is Jacksonville over Tennessee. They should have, could have beaten Miami two weeks ago and tney get Tennessee off off the win at Carolina.

Speaking of Carloina, I know they were a popular up and coming team this year with a good defense, but things take time. Tennnessee exposed them last week and it continues with a team the public has written off this week, New Orleans.

Also the Giants were a pre season favorite in some places. The Vikes although much improved are playing over their heads. The Giants keep this close.

Houston hangs with the Colts. The double digit dog has already proven they can play with most teams on a week to week basis.

Two more home favorites that are not getting much love, Pittsburgh and Tampa. These teams were picked for the Big Game by many but have stuggled. Pitt finds their rhythm at home against Saint Louise and the Bucs bring Dallas back to earth.

Whether you agree or not with these plays, i simply say, be warned...this NFL Sunday could be ugly.

My plays for this year in the NFL are 7-4...this week:

Jacksonville +4.5
Houston +13
San Diego +3
New Orleans -1.5
NY Giants +6
Cincinnati +3

Best of luck

3-2 today with a bad beat on the Saints game, brings it to 10-6 on the NFL season. Will have to look at the San Diego play again with the change of venue. Being a home dog had a fair amount to do with the play, now it is a neutral field. Will update Monday afternoon.

How are the Saints a bad beat? I consider a bad beat games like Indy @ Tampa a few weeks ago. This game seemed to have been throttled by the better team.

Your right, maybe not a bad beat but being unlucky instead. Though the Saints were not throttled, it went into overtime. The Saints had to settle for a 41 FG on 4th and 1 with under two minutes to go in the game. In OT they received the kickoff and returned into Carolina territory. Again the faced 4th and 1, this time at the 37. Instead of trying a long FG they go for it and fumble. The get a first down and they most likely win the game.

I had Tampa against Indy. That was ugly. Also had Minnesota U against Michigan when they outscored them 31-7 in the 4th. Had the Eagles against the Skins when they gave up 10 points with under two minutes to go. A real bad beat was last year when the Saints sacked Carolina's Rodney peete on the last play of the game, he fumbled, the Saints picked it up and scored a TD to cover the game. I think quite a few on this board remember that heartbreaker. About as bad as a beat as there is.
