I'm looking for an enclosed trailer for moving. 6 X 12 or smaller. They seem to hold their value very well and rental costs are high....might just buy the thing instead !

I think u can do better if shop around. Lowes isnt the cheapest place though that is a quality trailer. Local camper places or trailer dealers are usually cheaper. Here is 1 from around here and they have something similar for $2499....they have the same size in models up to $3699 but those bad boys have electric brakes and all kinda fancy stuff u might not need.

I visted a local trailer place, they had a used ( but like new) 6 X 10 with barn doors for $2400, wanted $3500 for a new 6 X 12 like the Lowe's one.

I see little on Craigslist.

I also need a trailer hitch which seems to run about $450.

Doug.... I'm not sure where you are, or if you are willing to travel. There are much better deals out there. Take a look on eBay.

OK, I'll look at ebay. I'm 30 miles east of New haven, ct. I can't really travel too far to look at a used trailer and bid on it. That would seem a bit crazy for an item that is 3k or under and really pretty basic....no motor for one thing, just a box on wheels really. I guess I'm not willing to look outside of ct, or western RI.

We are talking above $400 to rent it to move it to the NC/ SC area ( 4 day rental), The slightly used one i saw for $2400 ( 6 X 10), makes me consider buying the thing instead. That $2400 price was from a dealer, BTW.

If I could get it for say $1700, I'd just buy it.

yeh it would need to be new to travel any real distance to get it, used has to be very nearby.

Northern Indiana is where the majority of travel trailers and cargo trailers are built. I have bought 2 cargo trailers and a travel trailer at amazing prices. You can definitely find a better price on that trailer within driving distance. If you find the right dealer, they may meet you halfway.

I've seen some of the landscapers in my area that use this type. maybe buy one used from a landscaper ??

Call a couple of places, you never know... More so now towards the end of the season.

Just a Thought

I've never seen a landscaper use these, they tend to the low-boy flatbeds. I've seen construction companies have these small box trailers. I wouldn't cold call companies about unadvertised trailers. The trailers aren't really that secure, you could steal the whole thing as a unit rather easily instead of trying to break into it.

Well, halfway to Indiana from Ct won't work for me, it's only a <3k trailer.

My buyer might want to close in the next few days, kind of sucks...I need to to get a hitch on the F-150 and most likely buy a trailer of some sort. The planned closing date was 11/21.

I never heard of closing this fast, but I can't lose the buyer, buyer paid for an inspection yesterday, so they are serious.
