Ak you misunderstood.
What I mean is 5 different computers in 5 separate locations with 5 separate internet connections

Based on this thread I think google docs is the solution.
I think that would work better for phones and tablets then Dropbox would. I don't have a problem with dc converting excel to gd as long as excel converts it back which I'm sure it probably does.

Thanks everyone.

im so tired of these different computers not being in sync.

Not shocking that reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

5 computers <> 5 workbooks

The thread title...

Is there a program where you can sync Microsoft excell

Having a shared workbook is not syncing Excel.

The fact you guys are making an issue out of this is hilarious. I was just describing what it would take to sync excel files like he was describing. I was not talking about creating a shared file that they all had access to.

Maybe you should check your reading comprehension skills, lol.

It's funny how I can't even talk about excel in the offshore without my trolls coming out in full force.

I didn't misunderstand the question at all. That is why I said... "The way you described it". Shared workbooks that multiple people can use and edit have been around for over a decade. I was strictly speaking about syncing multiple workbooks together. Having a shared file is not syncing multiple workbooks together. It's just a single workbook that multiple people have access to.

Depending on the exact application, I suspect you would be better served to move to a database application.

Could have a .net, java, or web application that communicates with a linked table structure (mySQL is free).

This would allow your people to put an app on their cell phones (or access a website), easily input data, and have it stored in a central database and visible/retrievable by all.

Trying to accomplish this using Excel is kinda like trying to cut your lawn with a pair of scissors. There are better tools out there.

Everyone is right, that's why I don't understand the comments, lol. I live rent free in these guys heads if they have to troll in an excel thread, lol.

Hell you could even use an MSAccess front end if your people have Windows.

I am absolutely 1000% positive that I know more about excel than you do, but ok.

I've heard that many times. Knowing Vlookup does not make you an expert... lol. But I guarantee you there is nothing in excel that I couldn't do that you can. The fact you didn't even comprehend what I was talking about tells me all I need to know about your expertise in excel.

HC we have tried a few programs like you are talking about Wunderlist and smartsheet to be exact but there aren't any that can be custom setup exactly like I want it. I can custom setup an excel spreadsheet exactly like I want it but it does not have the syncing ability like the noncustomizable programs I have tried.

So the bottem line is I've been stuck with customized spreadsheet with no ability to sync. (Excel)
Or non customized sheet with the ability to sync.

This is exactly what I took from what you were describing. I have synced excel workbooks before where changes made in one affect another workbook and both workbooks can be customizable and have different sheets depending on the scope of the persons needs. That can't really be done easily without all the workbooks on the same network obviously.

Describe the problem in more detail because I don't think you are talking about 5 guys sharing one workbook. Seems like you want to sync data? Or are all 5 excel workbooks supposed to be exactly the same? I figured you were too smart not to know about shared files. Is it specifically to share data and allow each of you guys to manipulate and customize the workbook the way you want?
