Reading Scott L's theory on fixing begs the question. Is the nfl rigged?

I think I saw one fixed game by officials. It was pitt/sdiego in pitt a few years back. Pitt ran abotched sd kr back for a td on last play of the game and it was over turned for no reason. That was one of many horrible obvious bad calls in that game. For some reason, the refs would not let pitt cover.

However, that is the only one I've ever seen and it was by refs. I don't believe players, coaches or the league is ever involved in fixing nfl games.

And Scott, please consider that sheriff joe is the one person backing up your case..that should be cause for concern....he has mental problems.

I think we've all seen strange, head shaking decisions by Refs and/or Coaches and players that affect the spread. That Pitt-SD game, the walkoff let them score 2, etc. BUT to then take it to the next level and cry fix is where it just doesn't register. Too many people would have to be in on it, too many people would have to be quiet, weird betting patterns would have had to emerge BEFORE the game, etc., etc. The NFL in it's modern, current state is a cash cow for everyone involved, that would not risk the trivial amount of money a fix would bring home, to do it. The only time I thought it even possible was a couple of years ago with the replacement refs.

Voice of reason here. If games were fixed in the same way the WWE is and it got it out, the NFL would lose everything. It'd be equivalent to casinos predetermining the cards in black jack, when doing it randomly with an edge makes them rich. People can't keep secrets, let alone the amount of people that would have to be in on it for this to happening, we're talking more than thousands. People like to think there is some bigger force at work, rather than except that they lost a bet on their own. It's the same mentality of 9/11 truthers, who I don't think are crazy (at least not all of them). People aren't wired to believe that random shit happens, and need to fill in the blanks, and often base it on emotion rather than using reason and the scientific method. Vegas does not want fixed matches, and they don't need them, it's bad for business. They go out of their way to expose them, and have many many times. They much prefer random outcomes with a house edge. If all games were fixed, I'd be able to figure it out looking at line movement patterns, and would win a lot more than I lose.

I'm with ya on that. I'm just pointing to this one parrticular game. They actually reviewed the play and the review clearly showed there was nothing to over turn, it actually confirmed the play was legal...and yet the officials over turned the play. I really never saw anything like it and am still bothered by it. I'm sure college kids have shaved and fixed games that will never know but players and coaches in pro sports have way too much to lose...it is the officials that I think deserve to be watched closely
