Is Jimbo Fisher smoking crack or just in denial?

He is very juvenile with his off the field actions, but between the lines he a hell of a leader. There is no denying that.....not trying to defend him in any way, just pointing out the facts.

Not what you said in the offshore earlier this week when I posted the story from the NYT exposing FSU's blatant coverup for him.

My position on Winston hasn't changed: incredible talent on the field, clown off the field. It is amazing that he we have not lost a game with him under center, given the distractions that he creates with his off the field issues. You ever get a chance to read up on the Lizzie Seeberg story?

Dude, I used to respect your posts, but now you just seem blinded by your love for team.

Not blinded at all. Jameis is a fucknut off of the field, no question about it, but his leadership between the lines is second to none. The guy has not lost a game, and there is not another guy I would want under center during crunch time. Just keep him away from the seafood aisle during the off days.

Hard to find...everytime I google "college football scandals" Winston keeps popping up...LOL
No, but seriously, sad case and I am sure Notre Dame (like FSU) covered up the truth -- college football is a BUSINESS!

The mob wants their pound of flesh, this is starting to resemble a witch hunt. ESPN is doing everything it can to torpedo the Noles, too bad that it won't be enough to do the trick. The guy has been signing autographs for an hour before football/baseball games (road and away) for free since he has been there.

What you said was that all the negativity surrounding Winston is starting to resemble a witch hunt. You are defending this POS.

Defending? Hardly. Just stating the obvious, that the media has a hard on for this guy. Can't say that I blame them, despite their efforts, they just can't seem to knock him from his perch. It's got to irritate the hell out of them that they can't throw this "mental midget" off of his game. Do I condone, or support his off the field decisions: no. Stealing crab legs is a crime.

Report: Jameis Winston to declare for NFL draft following this season

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will leave school after this season.

According to a report by CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora, Winston was originally torn about whether to stay another year, but due to several off-field issues in the past few weeks, he has decided it’s best to move on.

Now, however, in the face of the multiple investigations into him, and what has become an adversarial relationship with school officials (excluding coach Jimbo Fisher and key members of the athletic department) it is virtually certain Winston is declaring no matter what happens in the second half of the season.

La Canfora said there have been several rumors that Winston would drop out of school because of his pending student code of conduct hearing and allegations he was paid for signing memorabilia, but La Canfora said that’s not likely to happen.

Some have suggested that Florida State star quarterback Jameis Winston might drop out of school as a way to avoid the institution's investigation into prior sexual assault charges brought against him, as well as an inquiry into whether he violated NCAA rules for being compensated for autographs, but several sources close to him said that is in no way a consideration.

Winston intends to fight vigilantly to maintain his innocence in both instances.

While La Canfora cites “sources” on his story, this decision has to be a no-brainer for Winston. There are too many off-field things going on around him to stay at Florida State another year. There would be no athletic benefit for him. In fact, staying might even decrease his draft stock.

And right now, Winston is probably in the best athletic place — at least in terms of public perception — that he’s been all season following a come-from-behind win against Notre Dame last weekend. That was the biggest win for the Seminoles this year and they now have nothing but smooth waters toward another undefeated campaign and a place in the College Football Playoff.

You said his criticism is a "witch hunt." That, my friend, is defending him no matter how you slice it.

I think Winston is a kid that made some mistakes. If the world watched what we all did at his age, I wonder how we would be judged. (although I never stole)

He does seem like a decent kid overall, he does give his time freely with respect to autographs. As for that organization having tons of signed stuff, they may be buying such stuff aggressively. I can't believe either they or Winston would be so stupid as to think they could get away with that shit if it was all planned out.

The criticism of Winston is over the top. I wish we could turn the spotlight around sometime, shine it on the media who have collectively become agenda driven biased whores. They've done far more harm to society that Winston ever did.

As for Jimbo's remarks, LMFAO@him. That's as over the top as the personal destruction of some 19 year old kid

Who the FUCK would want a Winston autographed anything? Seriously? Even if you were a die-hard FSU fan....would you proudly display it for all to see?

"See, here is my Jamies Winston autographed football!"

"Yes, I know he was charged with rape...but that was never proven!"

"Yes, I know he stole crab legs from a grocery store....but he didn't mean to do it!"

"Oh, yeah. I heard about him jumping up on a table at the student union and yelling "Fuck her right in the Pussy!!!", but he was suspended for one game for that!"

"Yeah, yeah....I heard about him selling 2000+ autographs and breaking NCAA, ACC, and team rules.....but that was never proven! He's such a great guy that he did all of that for free!!"

"Isn't the signed football cool!?!?!"

Again who the the FUCK would want his autograph?

As dumb as I was at his age I still knew right from wrong. And not in a million yrs would I have been stupid enough to jump on a table and yell the things he did. Oh and we don't even know the other things he has probably done and got away with. How many people have 3 brushes with the law in a yr. I'll tell you not good people.

we agree on most things willie, but this is not one of them. "Decent kids" don't get accused of rape, get caught stealing, and continue to undercut their reputation amongst other things. Even if he wasn't being held to a higher standard, he'd still be failing miserably.

However, as for his pro prospects, I'm sure the raiders, bengals, or even the Vikings will be a good fit. A "love boat" would probably be something right up this kids alley.

He'll find himself in another bad spot soon enough, the "decent kids" always do

anyone can be "accused of rape" my friend, nothing else condemns him in my mind. If there's something more to the rape allegations, I'll join the chorus. There's no second chance in the world of public opinion with a crime like that.

stole crab legs, pretty damn stupid, kids are. I'll forgive one transgression

not even sure what he may have shouted in the cafeteria, never bothered to read that story. Not even news 99.9999999999% of the time. In today's politically correct society, I (and a whole lot of other people) might be condemned to hell for some of the things we said. Of course those that are throwing stones would be joining us there too. Damn, hell would be even more crowded than it is today

random thoughts

Duke Lacrosse?
Tawana Brawley?

people convicted of murder, subsequently acquitted (and that's after actually having a trial, not just a media circus)
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/innocence-list-those-freed-death-row

one of the biggest misgivings in our society is convicting an innocent man.

I really don't understand how people can convict somebody based a verbal accusations that are somewhat problematic standing on their own to begin with and based on what they heard on ESPN. I'll never be able to comprehend that, genetically incapable. Let the investigation play out, let both parties have their day in court, and if the evidence points to Winston being a rapist, I'll throw stones at him too.
