If healthcare is a human right then wouldn't you suggest we pay for all 7 billion in the world? We all know that is impossible. It is actually impossible just in America. So this thread is about done
The term "universal healthcare" is very intellectually dishonest - par for the course on the left.
"Universal healthcare" does NOT mean "state-of-the instant universal access!"...it means a government issued-ID card, and that's where the Utopia ends.
In practice, it means rationed care: life threatening long wait times for critical MRIs and scans; a dearth of medical supplies, doctors, specialists and nurses; after paying into "the system" all her life, grandma is told she's too old for treatment and should take a pain pill (as Obama put it); the government forbids expensive state-of-the-art equipment and drugs etc.
From Corona to cancer, you're basically screwed. Look what's happening in Italy and Spain - not enough ventilators and supplies means doctors are being forced to choose which people live and die. Horrifying!
In countries with "universal healthcare", you're a slave to the omnipotent state (65%+ of your income and productivity is siphoned out of your pocket and funneled to the govt one way or the other in the form of draconian taxes: hidden VAT taxes, hidden pollution taxes, income taxes, endless fees etc.) while your pet gets better treatment than you do.
If you're a freeloader who lives irresponsibility and smokes like a chimney, "universal healthcare" is a great deal. Not so much for the suckers footing the bill.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
