Colts owner Jim Irsay expects his team to remain in Indianapolis for many years despite the current legislative haggling over ways to pay for a new stadium. The Colts have played in the R-C-A Dome since Irsay's father, the late Robert Irsay, brought the team from Baltimore in 1984. The proposed stadium is projected to cost at last 550 (m) million dollars, and several plans to finance the project have stalled in the Legislature.
During an interview with The Indianapolis Star during the N-F-L owners meeting in Hawaii, Irsay said he has no interest in leaving Indianapolis. He said pro franchises are sometimes forced to move "at the very end of a very problematic situation" but philosophically, he believes in franchise stability.
Irsay said his focus is to make sure the Colts are successful in Indianapolis.
