We won't agree on this issue Barman, but I'm glad you're back posting again... In the top 5 funniest posters in forum history.
As if you could name four funnier...
I am not seeking agreement on the legal right to gay marriage. I don't need it, because anyone I know who is gay can legally get married within the USA today, though it may be a few more months before the various state level obstacles are removed.
My post to you was asking that "dire consequences" your children (and my own for that matter...I have my first grandchild coming in about seven weeks) will realize due to the legal marriage of my business partner and her wife.
It seems rather reasonable that one might disagree with the choices of another. That is a very natural event throughout humankind.
What seems a bit less reasonable is teaching our children (or fellow adults) to fear something that is utterly imaginary
I don't believe they are comparable
Well, damn, I guess that settles it.
Hahahaha this was funny.
Justin, I'll help you out.
The reason they are not comparable is because one involves the consent of another free-willed adult, and the other victimizes a child who isn't of age or mental capacity to stand up for himself or even make his own decisions.
Yes, there is that difference, but I would argue that there are also key similarities:
1. They are both deviances from the norm
2. Both are claimed to be "born that way"
3. People within the GLBT movement support pedophilia (NAMBLA)
If true those ties should be cut. I agree with you though when it comes to the agenda of the movement, they want more than equal rights and are okay with government force when the tables are turned. Keep it out of schools, with exception of teaching kids to treat people who are different with respect. Then you have the stuff that goes on during pride parades that I'd be arrested for doing. But When it comes to tax breaks, and all the other benefits, I have to agree with them that you can't give straight people these benefits and not gays. I'm with you on civil unions for everyone and government out of marriage, but until then gays should be able to marry. Just another issue that wouldn't matter much if we abolished the IRS.
