Wisconsin Badgers vs Iowa State Cyclones

Tip Time: 6:10 PM EST

Play: Wisconsin (-4.5)

I don’t believe in Iowa State. They were fortunate to draw the Tigers in absolute chaos having lost their coach, and generally being a program without a clear future with potential sanctions looming. The one strength the Cyclones do lean heavily on is their defense, where they rank 10th in the nation in adjusted efficiency, and 5th in steals per possession. Which they used to muzzle the Tigers and limit them to under 60 points and force 14 turnovers. And while the Badgers are apparently the lucky team, it was the Cyclones who were fortunate as well. Tyrese Hunter is a 28% 3-point shooter. In the first-round game against LSU, he took a season-high 11 attempts from long range, canning seven of those shots, including the dagger to seal the game. This won’t continue.

Across from the Cyclones is a Badgers team who needed every bit of their stud sophomore Johnny’ Davis 25 points to escape Colgate, but will look at the matchup with the Cyclones with much excitement.

The Badgers seldom miss from the free-throw line, rarely turn the ball over, and if Johny Davis is 100% with regards to his ankle, are just to talented to lose to a team with no real offensive identity.

Worth keeping in mind —- This season, Iowa State went 3-5 in the road or neutral games against NCAA Tournament opponents.

Only one of those wins came after Dec. 5, and none of those wins came against teams seeded sixth or higher. In road or neutral games against teams seeded sixth or higher, Iowa State went 0-5 with an average margin of defeat of 14.6.
