Hundreds of thousands of Irish were sold to the New World for 200 years. They were a cheaper slave so in turn treated much worse than African slaves. Little Irish girls forced to bear children with African men.

They were indentured servants not slaves. They "worked" I believe the average was 6-7 years before they were freed from their master not owners. They were not considered property hence the distinction between master and owner. Still brutal though not as bad as the blacks.
